I fell in love with the look of Chinese red cabinet matched with blue and white porcelain at the Westlake Village Four Seasons hotel and spa. This piece has allowed me to duplicate the look for a fraction of the cost. It is a substantial piece, heavy, well constructed, great paint color and finish, love the brass handle pulls too. Our only complaint is that the directional arrows taped to the boards were incorrect. DO NOT ASSUME your arrows will be correct, check first. We had to take apart a nearly completed cabinet to flip boards to face the opposite direction. Crisis averted and looks great, but others take note!!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by TandC Love this Asian style Console
This piece was bought to use as a sideboard in my dining room and it really looks beautiful! I purchased this in red, as it will be used against an ebony colored wall. Real impact! This was exactly the Zen look I was going for.
I have assembled numerous pieces of knockdown furniture and this piece was pretty easy to assemble as the directions were very straightforward. I had a small challenge sliding the drawers in though once the console was completed. I thought I might have made an assembly error but, I eventually pushed until they slid in all the way.
This item was really well-packed, the parts were all clearly marked and all pieces were intact. I would highly recommend this piece.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Shakey slide question for assembly
Can anyone tell me how to get the slides apart in order to screw them to the wood pieces and assemble the unit? Mine came with the outer and inner slides all put together, and I cannot get them apart. Help!

This four-drawer file was so defectively manufactured that I had to essentially re-make many of the joints and mating surfaces, which would have been impossible if I did not have a full complement of woordworking tools. The drawer slides for two of the four file drawers were misaligned (too far apart in front, too narrow in back, and required extensive hand-chiseling in the back and reworking/narrowing the mating surfaces in the front, as well as re-drilling all of the holes on all four drawers. Unless the manufacturer significantly upgrades its quality control, I would not recommend this piece to anyone other than a full-fledged furniture restorer.

I enjoy putting things together so I wasn't really detered by the other reviews, when it came time to assemble it ended up being pretty simple. I did need to call my husband in a few times to help hold it steady... I'd call it a 1 & 1/4 person job.
As for the finished product... it looks great. The red color is really nice and the piece itself is heafty. No one will know that you put it togther yourself. The one thing that I was dissapointed in was the color of one of the small corner pieces below the drawers, obviously brighter and more distressed than the other side and the rest of the cabinet. It is in a shadowy place so not extremely noticable but still there...
