Does this floor need a pad under it?

We've hear both, yes it does and no it doesn't.
Asked by: Jimh
Installing padding, although optional, is standard with floating floors. Underlayment provides many benefits such as sound reduction, moisture protection, comfort and helps to minimize minor sub-floor imperfections. Choose an underlayment according to your needs. Detailed information of specific underlayment’s can be obtained from the underlayment manufacture.

What is the difference between the click lock and engineered?

Asked by: Jeff
Dear Customer, the click lock design operates like tongue and groove, although in this case the tongue locks into the groove without the need for adhesive or nails. Engineered T&G flooring can be floating on, directly nailed or glued to a wooden or concrete sub-floor.

Where is this floor manufactured? How does it hold up to humidity?

Asked by: Julie
This flooring is manufactured in China. According to the National Wood Flooring Association, “Wood flooring will perform best when the interior environment is controlled to stay within a relative humidity range of 30% to 50% and a temperature range of 60° to 80° Fahrenheit.” Inconsistent temperature and humidity will cause the flooring to expand and contract based on the changes in environment of the installed area. Prior to installation, flooring should be acclimated to the expected conditions of the installation area.

Is there a stain color suggestion for trim since ther are no matching trim to buy?

brand of stain and color
Asked by: cle5131
Dear customer, No, we do not. Any suggestions to stains that we would make would be through 3rd party manufacturers (like Minwax). We apologize for any inconvenience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice Professionally installed, took about 30 hours with two installers, over 1000sf. Beautiful color- no red or yellow tones, uniform color with varied patterning between planks. It is a dark wood unless you have a lot of light. Planks alternate thin and thick. Chose this over other click wood options because higher hardness rating. I tried scratching the sample and left a puddle of water on the sample overnight- it dried up and left a watermark that I wiped away. But water in the joint of the sample did cause swelling, as expected. This is two layers of wood sandwiched around fiberboard. The wood sample eventually dried out again. I thought distressed would be a good choice so I would not be paranoid about the new floor- but it does not give the appearance of a distressed look and I think looks very high-end. Smudges show.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy and beautiful My wife and I installed the Barrett Distressed Hickory wood floor in our bedroom. I liked the way the panels locked together, the floor and underlayment was very easy to install. There was very little cutting to install , the panels came with a half starter panel in ea. box which made it very nice to stagger seams. The whole floor turned out beautiful, it looks great with the existing wood furniture, We both like it so much I have decided to install the same flooring in another bedroom. We love the finished look.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking floor I love the look of this floor. My builder installed it, and he said there were no problems. There were no instructions, but he figured out the pattern to work with a row of skinny pieces, then a row of wider pieces. The texture and variation of color hides the scratches easily. I bought wood crayons at Walmart in the floor cleaning section and they work great on the scratches. As for any transitional pieces that go along with this floor, they are made of cheesy fiberboard. But it was too hard to try to get a stain dark enough to match to use on real wood transitional pieces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great floor! As a builder for over thirty five years I was particular in the flooring my wife and I chose for our home remodeling project. We found this flooring at HD on a corner kiosk and knew it was exactly what we were looking for. It was easy to install and we both love the random width pattern. My only complaint is as a previous reviewer mentioned, there are no exact match trim / transition pieces for this floor. You either have to make your own or buy something that doesn't match in color. We have had this floor now for almost a year and it still looks great, and it's so easy to clean and take care of! We love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Flooring, Not So Great Trim We purchased this flooring for a dining/kitchen/living room area (approx. 500 sq. ft.). It was very easy to install, either frontwards or backwards. I only mention this because we started in the living room and once we reached the end of a dividing wall we had to work backwards into the kitchen, which was a different depth. We were worried about how we would install the flooring until we realized we could click it together from either side. I love the two separate width boards and the different random length boards; made for less cutting and the floor looks homey, like it belongs there and less uniform and rigid. The color is rich and even for the most part. The floor seems durable. During remodel we dropped several tools on it including hammers, drills and measuring tapes and have seen no dents or scratches. The only downside to this flooring is the non-existent coordinating trim and stair nose. Home Legends doesn’t make any coordinating pieces so you have to buy a different color (Kinsley Hickory). The stair nose and trim are much lighter than the Barrett Hickory flooring and almost makes the finished edges seem like an after-thought. They should consider making something darker, near the same color as the flooring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful floor, easy installation. Installed over felt underlayment for a solid sound and feel. The wood has beautiful variations in grain and tone. Not a formal look (I wanted a casual, country feel, and got it). I chose the distressed because I have dogs and cats, hope it stands up. Impossible to tell how it would look from a small sample, but took the chance based on other reviews. Love the rich, darker color, the visual texture (grain, knots and distressing). No damaged boards (delivered to my home).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tremendous Value Installed 500 square foot of it and couldn't be more pleased. Installation is easy for first-time installers. Will be very attractive to buyers if/when we ever sell home. Baseboard trim and quarter round stained to match the floor color really makes the job impressive! Highly recommend this product to moderately skilled DIY installer.
