Scratch proof? Darkening? Swelling?

As the tigerwood pattern is just printed onto the bamboo, I am wondering how robust the top layers are to scratches, and if there is anything that can be done when it does get scratched? Is there a stronger clearcoat that can be applied post installation?

I know as a disclaimer it says tropical hardwoods may darken due to sunlight conditions. As this is just a printed pattern on the bamboo, will this darken in the same way? (Will the bamboo darken?).

As our humidity is around 80 % at times, do you have problems with your products in these conditions?

Answer:
Altering the wear layer surface would void manufacture warranty of the wear layer. Results of recoating can vary.
As a bamboo product, this model is not an exotic "hardwood" so the information that applies the Tigerwoood hardwood does not apply to this "printed" bamboo.
This product should only be installed in an controlled environment. The recommended humidity range is 35% -55%.

This floor looks great online, but without being able to see it in person or touch it, I'm worried I'll hate it when it gets here. I'm not going to spend $2000 on something I may not like and cannot return. So, what will I have to do to return it?

After reading a review it states that the top layer is a veneer. Is this true and can this floor be sanded?

Answer:
The top is not even a true veneer... It is a picture of wood like you get on a laminate product. You cannot sand the surface.

Answer:
This product is constructed of solid bamboo. The tigerwood design is "printed" and sanding would remove this. Sanding is not recommended and doing so would void the warranty.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not buy this product! -I am an Architect, this floor looks great, it however is a faulty product-do not buy this. it looked great for a few days until I did some painting. Any kind of painters tape will rip the top layer off exposing a white film below. likewise if you drop even your keys on this, it will chip and you will be left with a white film below the colored top layer. it almost looks like the top veneer is a photograph. -This must be pulled from the market -Cannot say enough bad things about this product. -looks fantastic, for 10 minutes July 30, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Misrepresented and Poor Quality The Material is described as Solid Bamboo. However it is NOT solid but rather a extremely poor quality laminate where the laminated finish completely comes off with the slightest tap, high heels, dog nails and will strip off in large pieces with scotch painters tape. Worse yet Home Depot customer service passes the buck if you purchase anything on-line. We have been told to deal with the manufacturer directly. Unfortiunately Home Legend has no sense of urgency either. Subsequently after a more than a week since we stopped installation (our home is a mess with a unfinished install that is deteriorating each day) we are no closer to any kind of resolution. Yes indeed the floor was coming apart before we even completed installation. The whole experience has been so humiliating that I can't even off any kind of rating. August 22, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst product ever I purchased this product for my entire downstairs and after a few months I noticed that there were scratches in the finish. I had purchased bamboo because it was supposed to be harder making it scratch and dent resistant. These scratches are not little indentations, they have caused the entire finish to flake up and expose the white primer underneath. The white primer eventually wears away too and shows the bare bamboo. I will be writing to the company because my whole floor is destroyed and has to be ripped up and replaced. Hopefully their customer service is better than their product November 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HD Exotic bamboo tigerwood HL 401 We purchased 1500 sf of this bamboo Tigerwood for a new custom home we built in Florida. We and everyone who has seen the floors installed love the very rich warm color. We installed it on all the main first floor common areas including the kitchen. We also had 300 sf installed in the 12' high tray ceilings. Its very easy to install since its has a click feature. Installation done by professional flooring company. Very little if any waste. Color and planks 100% consistent. Glue is the largest cost factor besides the wood. Glue is expensive and we used 10 buckets for 1200 sf. It covers about 30-35 sf per 4 gallon bucket. Keep this in mind, glues dont cover what the manufacturer says. Its also very expensive, about $145.00/ bucket. When you walk its soundless unless you have dress shoes. Only downside so far is that we have a breakfast nook with chairs on casters. I weigh 220 lbs and the casters leave slight but visible track marks. Its a tad bothersome but live and learn. Its not as hard as other woods. The value of the wood vs the price is fantastic. Would definitely recommend. Plus Depot stands behind the product with no hassles. other retailers may not. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pure waste of money Don't waste your money on this product. Looks good but that is only film deep. After the flooring was installed, new base board was added. The base board was to be painted. 3M blue masking tape was applied to the floor to protect it from the paint. When the tape was removed long pieces of the floor film came up with it. How the company can claim a 50 year warranty on this product I will never know. This product dents easily and yes, you can scrape off the surface film with a fingernail. March 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by absolute garbage Deffinately not what was in the description. The coloring on the top is just a poorly glued on laminate. Once you cut it, it flakes of. Then you are able to scrape it off with your finger nails. Not solid bamboo either... it is made of strips glued together. Just an overall poor product. February 26, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice Good quality but somehow when it was shipped(at least I hope) seems like they might have damage the lip causing it to be weak when going inside the grove, now not all pieces had the same problem that's why I think it was a shipping issue. February 25, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product Nice finished product. Be careful it chips easily. Im thinking it may not be as tough as a laminate but at $0.99 a square foot it turned out great. January 20, 2015
