Answer:
Yes, it can; the polyurethane surface will provide water resistance, but if water is left on the surface for an extended period of time (beyond 30 minutes), the water protection cannot be ascertained.

I have to lay down a cork insulating layer over my concrete base in order to install bamboo or hardwood flooring. Can the bamboo be glued to that type of subflooring?

Answer:
Our solid bamboo products can only be installed over three different kinds of subfloors: plywood, solid hardwood, and concrete. It must be nailed into the plywood and solid hardwood subfloors and glued onto concrete. Any other installation method, on any other surface, would put the warranty at risk.

Answer:
This solid bamboo flooring can be installed over concrete as long as subfloor preparation is conducted and an appropriate urethane flooring adhesive is used. The Roberts R1509 and R1530 are good examples of an appropriate flooring adhesive.

The directions on the flooring state to use 10d nails which I found means 3" nails. Most staple/nail guns hold up to 2" inch nails. Would I be able to use 2" nails on this flooring installation?

Answer:
Our installation instructions pertaining to our 5/8" solid bamboo products are going through a revision, where we will be suggesting fasteners that have different specifications than our current solid bamboo installation instructions. The new specification are: 6D-8D finish nails, 16-18 gauge. You can also use either T-shaped or L-shaped flooring cleats with the same aspects as the nails.

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful product. Installed this floor by gluing 1200 + sq ft of it down to a not so perfect concrete slab on grade. Proper glue is expensive and messy. Install was a challenge because my wife and I installed this through the entire house with non traditional hallways and bedrooms without a threshold except at bathrooms where they met tile. Result: BEAUTIFUL FLOOR that is now part of the slab for many years. Figured we could refinish if we got tired of the look since it's solid. Scratches and dents easy and furniture pads a must on everything. Area rugs are important as well. Still pretty new so we are careful about damage and wiping up liquid spills. Comfortable warm feel from it and doesn't feel so hard. Overall I'm not sure if I would want to self install again but the resulting look and character of the end product is just something amazing! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bambo Flooring I found this product easy to work with and install, make sure you have a fine tooth cutting blade as it splinters easily. HOWEVER, I would not use this flooring again as the finish on this scratches very easily. I have a day bed with a trundle in this room and just pulling out the trundle put scratches in the floor, I also dropped the rubber mallet that I was using and it put a dent in the wood, This is not hard like oak, maple or walnut. Very disappointed in the finish and hardness on this flooring. I bought enough to do a second bedroom but am sending it back, and if I had not already glued down the other room I would replace it as well. I think my only option now is to sand the entire floor and put my own finish on it. Something that I was not planning on doing for at least 10 years. I would not use this in any living area that gets a lot of use. In fact I would not recommend this product to anyone. Now I have to find something that is close to this look so the other bedroom matches. April 19, 2009
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Home Legend Flooring The product was easy to install. However, the finish does not hold up at all and it scratches like crazy. I am going to try and have it replaced. April 18, 2009
