Do you use 6 mil underlayment/moisture barrier or the "bubble wrap" variety? I will be doing installation on wood subfloor as well as concrete slab.

Asked by: rentalrehab
I've installed it on concrete slab, and yes I've used the underlayment, the silver one. They work great. You should never do it without it.

Can this product be installed in the basement?

I talked to a specialist in store at Home Depot. He suggested me not to use click lock hardwood in the basement. But in the product description, below grade was listed in proper installation location. Does anyone have experience using it in the basement? What are the risks? How fast can the issues appear?
Asked by: Jurgen
yes with the floor sealed and proper underlayment.

Purchased this product in 2015, a year later in two areas the surface finish started to disappear, living patches of unprotected wood. HomeDepot initially denied this to be a warranty claim, based on images I shared, they never visiting our house. After confronting the store manager, he promised to have someone visiting our residence, but this never happened. When I call, I get the response: we are sending someone soon. Obviously HomeDepot does not stand to their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy installation and great value This is the 7th floating floor I have installed over 15 years. Engineered floor have improved over this time period. This is a good choice (3/8") because it has a thicker top veneer and could be repaired (sanded) if needed. The installation needs basic DIYer tools. I usually use the cheapest underlayment, but if your budget can stand it, upgrade to a 3-1 underlayment. It goes down easier and gives the floor a more solid feeling. I put together a generic how to that can be used and answers a lot of questions. click on:

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible This flooring has the durability of painted styrofoam. I dropped a paintbrush on it, from waist height, and it left a quarter inch divot in the floor (I did the same with a sample of Pergo and it left no mark). I went with this floor believing the manufacturers claims about durability. Normal use is leaving a myriad of scratches every day. When I moved my refrigerator (which is on wheels) it left deep grooves in the floor. I am profoundly disappointed in this product and very surprised that Home Depot even carries it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it We installed this floor this past weekend (we used 3 1/2 inch wide panels, which are now discontinued, but otherwise, it's the same product). I don't usually take the time to review products, but it was so easy to install, and it really looks gorgeous, so I wanted to share this with others. We put a ceramic click lock floor in the foyer, and it was SO much work...this floor was a breeze, even fun to install. One thing I love is that the wood has a wax coating to protect it. I spilled my water bottle while insalling, and it just beaded up on the wood. The wax is a great barrier and will help it last. I would definitely recommend this product.

We have 2 medium-large dogs and I do not recommend this wood floor for anyone with dogs. Also, do not install in kitchens, bathrooms or anywhere that could get wet/damp. Our dogs have scratch the floor in all areas of the house, we cannot use a robot vacuum on it, since that also scratches the floor. Areas near the refrigerator, sink and toilet are failing due to water damage from occasional drips. This was easy to install and without dogs or in wetter areas would work well. Just not a good product for our family.

I used the float installation method and the results were very good. I do have one or two spots that are where the floor gives when someone steps on it, due to unlevel concrete. But with a float install you may get some of that with an unlevel base. Just make sure that you check your base to make sure it is level when you begin your install. This problem was not due to defects of the product. The product looks great in our new den/tv room. Highly recommend, especially for first timers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautiful floor This was our first floor of any kind that we attempted to put down. We used Black Jack underlament which went down easily. The installation of the Maple Sedona went without a lot of difficulty, especially after we had a few rows in place. The color is beautiful, rich honey and carmel color. The natural grain of the wood and natural variations of each board make it a unique and beautiful floor. I would recommend this to anyone. One tip, if you are able to get to Home Depot in person to choose your floor, it will give you a much better idea of the true look of the product. The picture on the web site does not do it justice.

This product is wonderful to install, the only problem is it scratches so easily, it will scratch just walking across it. Our installer could not believe how easily it scratched.. Socks or barefoot only, and lots of rugs along with felt pads under all furniture. Even our dog and cat are not allowed to be on the flooring, because their claws will scratch the flooring. Do not know how it can be warrantied for 55 years. Even the company refuses to talk about their product - sends you right back to Home Depot. Home Depot apparently has a product to help the scratches blend into the flooring ????????? I waited over thirty years to remove carpet from living room floor, decided to go with this hardwood flooring, because it matched our 3/4 inch Gunstock Oak flooring we installed a few years earlier in our hallway and it held up wonderfully. Disappointed!
