What type of underlayment is best reccomended fo this flooring on a slab?

I am hopinng to have a some type of moisture protection as well as a balanced surdy feel underneath, not the soft cushionany feel some mention in comments about underlayments. The other thought is, woulld you reccomend gluing down to the slab without any underlayment?
Asked by: Anonymous
Since this is a click clock , we used the Unison Premium 2-in1 underlayment. Although there is some creaking (noise) the flooring is quite sturdy.

would you use hand scraped hardwood in a bathroom

remodeling bathroom, have this flooring in 1 of my bedrooms and was going to do rest of my upstairs in same, would it you reccomend putting this in bathroom as well , or , would the wet from bath, etc. ruin it?
Asked by: Anonymous
I wouldn't recommend for the bath. (or if you do perhaps segment with tile directly adjacent to the tub/shower) I have it in my kitchen and moisture is an issue for us under the dishwasher where steam escapes and has distorted some of the section directly in front of it.

The color is uniform and goes together seamlessly. Instructions are simple and straight forward with practical tips to avoid errors. It costs a bit more but is well worth it. Invest in top grade moisture barrier-sound reduction material and the finished results will be wood-real and terrific in appearance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to install and looks fantastic This was my first install of click-lock flooring. It couldn't have been easier and the results were really amazing. The toughest part was getting the door jam cuts done but even that wasn't too bad after I'd done a few. I started with a 350Sf room and liked it so much I did another 200sf family room with the same product. Make sure you have a rubber mallet, tap bar and pull bar that you can buy at HD. They are a must. Also a good miter box is a must have. Once you get in the rhythm of putting the flooring down it just flies. I did both rooms in less than 4 days including tearing out the old flooring and trim prep and re-trimming. The best part is all the raves I hear from friends and family that see the floor. The quality of the wood and finish is really something. Even with 2 kids and 2 big dogs the finish has held up really well (3 months and counting)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let me dispel some of the myths! Our living room floor after six months of trampling, playing entertaining, dog and kid romping is gorgeous. 1. This floor does not scratch IF you remove the metal tips from your furniture and install PADS for WOOD floors! 2. Dog or Cat nails do NOT Scratch this floor. We have 5 show dogs and one guard cat that run, slide, and roughhouse without leaving evidence that they have been around unless you call fur a scratch!! (I suppose a 100 plus dog with uncut nails could cause a problem ;) ). 3 The underlayment with the white balls does not spill all over the place unless an occasional ball or two (1 or 2) is called all over the place. 4. This floor is quieter or as quiet as most solid hardwood floors my wife has walked on with her four inch heels. 5. The underlayment with the little white balls has a barely perceptible crackle 4 weeks after the floor is laid and then only in the middle of the night "when not a creature was stirring"!! Bottom line, this is a beautiful floor with wonderful grain patterns, easy to install. I am about to put down one in my bedroom now followed by my Man Cave followed by the dining room! I do have one negative! The box says random lengths. Nope! all the same length, but then in normal installing you wind up with random lengths pretty quick!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do NOT buy. Very poor quality. Yes, this is engineered wood, so I didn't expect it to be the best quality. However, this is the worst flooring product I've ever experienced. Within months of installation, the "plastic" veneer finish starting bubbling and peeling in sections. The finish started hazing and makes the flooring look dull. It chips and scratches extremely easily. Unless you live in museum-like home with little to no foot traffic, this flooring will wear down very easily. It's very impractical. Their 55 year warranty means nothing. The customer service rep wouldn't help me when I called to discuss my situation. Worst flooring I've ever owned and will not buy any other product from this manufacturer in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Went down pretty easy. Looks great! I looked at many different flooring possibilities and kept coming back to the HAND SCRAPED MAPLE SADDLE. It went down pretty easy and it looks beautiful! I didn't find one single damaged board in the entire 800 sq. feet. I trust it will be durable too. The 55 year warranty is not bad either.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks Great, Not very durable Installed ~1200sq ft of this in the main room of my home. It looks fantastic, but less than a week into it there are permenant scratches and scuffs all over the place. This has a "hardness" rating of 4/5. I would give it more of a 2/5 or even 1/5. Simply sliding another piece of the same flooring over top of the existing is enough to leave a permenant scuff. I wouldn't recommend this flooring if scratching and scuffing will bother you much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love this flooring! We absolutely love this flooring. We started out installing in just the main living areas, but the floors are so beautiful we have decided to put in all the bedrooms as well. This product is click lock and installs very quick and easy. We highly recommend this product!
