I am hopinng to have a some type of moisture protection as well as a balanced surdy feel underneath, not the soft cushionany feel some mention in comments about underlayments. The other thought is, woulld you reccomend gluing down to the slab without any underlayment?

Since this is a click clock , we used the Unison Premium 2-in1 underlayment. Although there is some creaking (noise) the flooring is quite sturdy.

When putting hardwood flooring down on a concrete slab make sure you use a vapor barrier. Plastic first then use the paper.

I'd strongly recommend against gluing down directly, particularly if you live in an area with seasonal humidity changes and temperature flux. #1 it's very difficult if you want to replace individual sections in the future, #2 any moisture that gets trapped will swell and potentially crack the flooring #3 wood flooring needs to float since it will naturally expand and contract and if you lock it into place it will put a lot of stress on the flooring and you'll get rippling and distortion. Having a floating floor with a proper moisture barrier will prevent this from occurring. Read Less

Answer:
I wouldn't recommend for the bath. (or if you do perhaps segment with tile directly adjacent to the tub/shower) I have it in my kitchen and moisture is an issue for us under the dishwasher where steam escapes and has distorted some of the section directly in front of it.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do NOT buy. Very poor quality. Yes, this is engineered wood, so I didn't expect it to be the best quality. However, this is the worst flooring product I've ever experienced. Within months of installation, the "plastic" veneer finish starting bubbling and peeling in sections. The finish started hazing and makes the flooring look dull. It chips and scratches extremely easily. Unless you live in museum-like home with little to no foot traffic, this flooring will wear down very easily. It's very impractical. Their 55 year warranty means nothing. The customer service rep wouldn't help me when I called to discuss my situation. Worst flooring I've ever owned and will not buy any other product from this manufacturer in the future. August 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rich looking floor I ordered this flooring for the easy installation. My floors were uneven and I would not need to do any leveling with this product. It was easy going once I got the hang of it. Rich in color and tone and a touch of class with the hand scraped look. but it does scratch easy. I had to add felt to the bottom of my furniture. I would recommend the clicklock system but maybe opt for a more durable finish. Also having the right tools for the fine cuts is advisable. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Flooring I was looking to replace the linoleum and dated laminate in the great hall of my new home. The hall is 400 square feet and I needed to make sure the flooring that I purchased wouldn't overshadow the room. This flooring was the perfect choice. It added warmth to the room and uniformity. Everyone that steps into the room remarks on how beautiful the floors are and how well they complement the style of the room. The flooring itself is durable. I've had several dogs running and sliding around in it, and not a scratch. I also have a grand piano and a large oak table with 5 chairs, which have yet to harm the floor. Installation was relatively simple, with the exception of some intricate cuts around the breakfast nook (see picture). Spring for the best padding. You won't be disappointed. With the memory foam-like padding, the floor is quiet and bounces less. My only complaint is that the floor needs constant sweeping and cleaning to keep it looking amazing. I could not be more impressed with the floor considering it is priced only slightly more than some laminates. June 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the look of my new floor! This floor took my husband and his friend only 2 days to install in my master bedroom and it came out beautiful! December 17, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Scratches EASILY This flooring scratches way too easily. But I'm kinda stuck right now, since I bought this flooring for 2 bedrooms on one floor, and now I have to do 2 more and the hallway. So I'm finishing with this, cuz I don't want to have to redo the other 2 rooms. Wish I had picked something better. April 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Went down pretty easy. Looks great! I looked at many different flooring possibilities and kept coming back to the HAND SCRAPED MAPLE SADDLE. It went down pretty easy and it looks beautiful! I didn't find one single damaged board in the entire 800 sq. feet. I trust it will be durable too. The 55 year warranty is not bad either. July 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks nice, but not as easy to install as first thought It is a beautiful product, but not sure it is really worth the price paid. The product scratches easy, so you have to be careful that you don't slide anything across when moving furniture. May 13, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful floor, very noisy! Beautiful colored floor, unfortunately after install it will start to crackle when you walk on it. Sounds like walking on corn chips. I glued all the seams when I installed the floor but it still squeaks anywhere you walk with regularity. It's way to thin, I didn't think the 1/8 inch would matter but I wouldn't ever install this flooring in my home again because of the noise. 1/2 inch thickness would probably have helped. Wish I could return it and choose something different. Very poor manufacture. December 5, 2015
