Does this have a lot of color variation?

I know that natural acacia can have quite a significant amount of variation in color in the boards. This seems to be stained, and seems more uniform. store sample shows this as well. but in the end, these are small samples. can you confirm if this tends to have a lot of variation when installed in a room, or is it more subtle? thank you!

The color is as consistent as any natural wood product can be. The issue I had is that the actual order received was very different than the samples- in color and the grade of wood used. The samples I saw were a veneer which tends to be a better grade of wood. The solid wood is a #2 grade with many knots- some of them being filled. Given the inconsistency of the color lots, it's impossible to know what Read More

Given the inconsistency of the color lots, it's impossible to know what you'll end up with- especially if you order more at a later date. My first order had a dark burgundy tone, while the second order was light with an orange tone. This is also a "made in China" product which explains the above statements. Read Less

I would call it subtle, not so extreme that it looks weird like some. One caveat. Please read my reviews on this product. I installed about 2500 sq feet in my home and regret it. The finish repels everything, even wax sticks and felt markers made to touch up furniture. Overall for the money, this is a not a good product. Read Less

Answer:
I would call it a medium color variation. Not so extreme that it will go out of style quickly. However, please read the reviews on the finish. This product scratches very easily and will not take a touch up that I've been able to find. It also has a very slick finish, so it creates a slipping hazard. Plan on a lot of area rugs.

Answer:
My local stores only had the snap and lock samples. There were no samples of the 3/4" solid wood. The solid wood is a #2 grade wood that contains knots- some of which are filled. Order plenty of extra if you don't want lots of 12" pieces in your floor. My experience has been that every box contains about 20% 12" pieces with only 1 piece being the stated 47". Other sizes are usually 18",24",30",36" +/-

We've had this in our kitchen pantry and dining room for over five years and the wood is beautiful and can't ask for a nicer looking floor. I put Bona wood polish on it twice a year and it looks like the day we put it in. As with all wood floors it will dent and scratch so we put pads on all the chairs and had no problems. Does dent as easily as any other wood floor but will resist scratches better than most. I hope they don't discontinue this because I want to put it in the rest of my house in the next year so Home Depot please keep this product it's a fantastic product thank you

Rated 2 out of 5 by from COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COLOR I ordered this product because it appears to be a light to medium grey color in the living room photos. This product is a dark brown EXTREMELY DIFFERENT color than what it looks like on line. It was NO where close to the color appears to be. Very thankful I opened it before leaving the store and returned it immediately.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what we wanted In all fairness to this product, I wanted to clarify that it looks EXACTLY like the picture. This flooring is very neutral and exactly what my husband and I have been looking for. We are in the middle of a complete remodel and I can't tell you how many different floors we have looked at. They either are too "wood colored" - yes I said that - or the gray is too blue. This covers both for us. Now, keep in mind we just ordered one box and I've had nightmares for a week, because the other review said it was dark brown. We decided to just try it and I'm so glad we did. I ordered 46 boxes yesterday for the rest of the house. Will add pictures when it's installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks really good This wood looks really good when installed.. although installation is not really easy as it has to be glued to the floor. We were running short by the end of our project, so we had to order more and we asked for it to be expedited. Amazingly, we received it the next day after we placed the order for the same shipping price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dont buy it! Salesman in the Jackson, MI store said this wood was harder than oak and that racket ball courts and croquet balls are made from Acacia wood. About halfway though the installation we noticed plenty of dents and scratches after only 1 week. Even my 95 lb mother and her walker caused indentations. Come to find out the wood is almost as soft as pine. Just from the way the installers saw cut the wood we new it was nowhere near the solidness of oak. We have another home in northern MI that is only 5 years old with oak and bamboo floors from Home Depot and they are doing great thus we took fell for the sales pitch on Acacia. We currently have a claim with Home Depot. Hopefully they will resolve this in some way where everyone is happy.
