I know that natural acacia can have quite a significant amount of variation in color in the boards. This seems to be stained, and seems more uniform. store sample shows this as well. but in the end, these are small samples. can you confirm if this tends to have a lot of variation when installed in a room, or is it more subtle? thank you!

The color is as consistent as any natural wood product can be. The issue I had is that the actual order received was very different than the samples- in color and the grade of wood used. The samples I saw were a veneer which tends to be a better grade of wood. The solid wood is a #2 grade with many knots- some of them being filled. Given the inconsistency of the color lots, it's impossible to know what you'll end up with- especially if you order more at a later date. My first order had a dark burgundy tone, while the second order was light with an orange tone. This is also a "made in China" product which explains the above statements. Read Less

I would call it subtle, not so extreme that it looks weird like some. One caveat. Please read my reviews on this product. I installed about 2500 sq feet in my home and regret it. The finish repels everything, even wax sticks and felt markers made to touch up furniture. Overall for the money, this is a not a good product. Read Less

Answer:
I would call it a medium color variation. Not so extreme that it will go out of style quickly. However, please read the reviews on the finish. This product scratches very easily and will not take a touch up that I've been able to find. It also has a very slick finish, so it creates a slipping hazard. Plan on a lot of area rugs.

Answer:
My local stores only had the snap and lock samples. There were no samples of the 3/4" solid wood. The solid wood is a #2 grade wood that contains knots- some of which are filled. Order plenty of extra if you don't want lots of 12" pieces in your floor. My experience has been that every box contains about 20% 12" pieces with only 1 piece being the stated 47". Other sizes are usually 18",24",30",36" +/-

Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dont buy it! Salesman in the Jackson, MI store said this wood was harder than oak and that racket ball courts and croquet balls are made from Acacia wood. About halfway though the installation we noticed plenty of dents and scratches after only 1 week. Even my 95 lb mother and her walker caused indentations. Come to find out the wood is almost as soft as pine. Just from the way the installers saw cut the wood we new it was nowhere near the solidness of oak. We have another home in northern MI that is only 5 years old with oak and bamboo floors from Home Depot and they are doing great thus we took fell for the sales pitch on Acacia. We currently have a claim with Home Depot. Hopefully they will resolve this in some way where everyone is happy. August 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Beyond Disappointed-HORRIBLE flooring We installed about 1,500 sq feet of this flooring when remodeling the main level of our home. Within days, I knew it was a major mistake. EVERYTHING destroys this floor. There are dents where the furniture sits unless it's on a rug (which defeats the purpose of beautiful floors when you have to cover them all up). The kids have dropped toys that have scratched or dented it. Our 60 pound dog has done the biggest number on it. We keep her nails trimmed and filed, but when she gets excited and runs across the floor it looks as though we took a metal rake to it. I have spent hours laying on the floor with a correction marker trying to cover scratches, but if there is a gouge it's still visible, and it gouges 99% of the time. We have had these installed for less than 6 months and I wish we could afford to rip them all out and replace them. We have had wood floors in the past and knew that they would develop "character" after being well-loved for some time, but these just looked trashed and I am kicking myself for spending our hard earned money on them. Do yourself a favor and avoid these. There were only a couple of online reviews at the time we purchased these, otherwise I would have run the other way. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My client is very happy! I was very excited to find this acacia flooring, because I have a long time client that wanted a dresser made from it and I couldn't find it anywhere else. It arrived quickly and the price was reasonable. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love Our Floors!! We've had our floor installed for over 8 months in the main living areas of our home and master bedroom. Looks amazing, 3 kids and 3 dogs (one huge golden retriever) and durable, no scratches, finish looks as good as day installed. Great color variations, not super heavy grain or heavy hand scraping, which we prefer. Ordered 2nd lot for stairs to heavily used game room, and color consistent with other rooms. Next, ordering for our kids bedrooms. Did research on cleaning and ONLY use slightly damp cloth or light steam ($50 shark from Target). We also put pads on all furniture to control scratches, but have on all prior wood floors too. June 19, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Is this I what ordered? I ordered 18 cases of this flooring based on several pieces of the small 4"x4" samples which were the MDF core snap and lock. When I received my order I was shocked at the difference in color. The samples were a golden brown tone while the solid planks were a burgundy tone with many knots-some of which had been filled with filler. It was obvious that the thin veneer on the samples were of a better grade of veneer than the wood used for the solid planks. Given time restraints I kept the order and installed it. Installation was easy and the consistency of the plank width was good. However, about 20% of every box contained 12" pieces with there only being 1 plank that was the 47" that is shown as the length of the flooring. Granted it's random length, unless you want lots of 12" pieces, your waste factor increases by 20%. I ordered another 18 cases for an adjoining room and the color this time was very light and had a distinct orange tint. Different color lots but not even close by any stretch of the imagination. Beware if you need more flooring! Once again nowhere close to the sample color. This batch is getting returned. This is a "made in China" product hence the lack of consistency. November 24, 2014
