Customer Questions & Answers

Is this product paintable?

Asked by: Pat
I think it would be paintable, but you'd have to take some of the high gloss sheen off of it with sand paper first. It seems to be finished like the bamboo flooring material, with a water repellent coat of something. I would sand and paint a small piece before tackling a big bunch of it. I've never painted anything bamboo, so I don't know how many coats it would suck up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for trimming my sun room I installed laminate flooring (also from Home Depot) in my sun room and needed 3/4 inch quarter round for trim. Ordered this on-line. This was less expensive than any other trim I found and shipping was free. It was delivered before the estimated date, installation was easy with the aid of a miter box and brad nailer, and my wife is happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MUCH easier than oak to cope corners! I trimmed one room in oak last year, after laying the bamboo floor, because I didn't have time to have this product delivered online. I struggled and hacked at the oak pieces last year, so I was dreading doing the trip on the next room I laid the Horizontal Toast Bamboo in this month. This product was like night and day to cope cut the corners. House is 80+ years old, settled, corners and walls not straight. I learned how to cope cut by Googling 'problem walls, floors, trim'. This product cuts MUCH easier than oak. The grains allow smaller pieces of the material to fall off under too much pressure, rather than the oak, which was so brittle it just snapped off. That would mean another trip to the miter saw and starting all over again. Have only had to do this once in a room full of corner this year. Yes, the oak looks nice, but this stuff is MUCH cheaper and easier to work with. The material should be secured in a vise when cope cutting, with a scrap board protecting the finished side. If you squeeze it too hard, it usually crimps the unfinished side, but too much pressure will imprint the finished side. Product was delivered in a hard cardboard tube, and, each segment came plastic wrapped in good shape.
