There are padding rolls that are both pads and vapor barriers in one. I just finished installing hardwood over an awful sub-floor and without the padding I'm sure it would have creaked and squeaked. Blackjack makes a really good padding but it's expensive for a 100 sq.ft. roll. That is what I used, but there are cheaper alternatives, or just go with a plastic vapor barrier. The last thing you want is for your floor to be destroyed because of moisture that seeps out of the concrete. Spend the extra money to ensure that the floor will last a long time. Read Less

Because of the nature of your subfloor (meaning that the material can vent any moisture it contains), you will need to use what is known as a 'moisture barrier underlayment' to maintain the warranty attached to that product. This underlay needs to have the following properties: #1-it needs to be made of polyethylene film. #2-it should be between 5-7 mils thick (mils represent 1/1000 of an inch). #3-it Read More

DAILY MAINTENANCE:
1. Sweep dust mop or vacuum your floor regularly to remove any particles that could cause abrasion or scratch your floor. CAUTION: Vacuums with a beater bar or power rotary brush head can damage a floor and should never be used.
2. Use a damp mop to remove spots and soil. Apply appropriate cleaning solution to the cleaning cloth / mop. Do NOT apply directly to the floor.
• For lightly soiled area, clean with distilled water.
• For moderately soiled area, use a mild solution of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. Isopropyl alcohol is commonly referred to as rubbing alcohol and is sold in 50% to 70% concentrations. This product should be diluted by mixing one part alcohol and 2 parts distilled water.
• For tougher spots, use a higher concentration of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water.

Hi, I was wondering if there's anyway to tell the age of the bamboo used in this flooring? Also, has anyone tried to put padding under it? does it make it softer to walk on?

Answer:
All of the bamboo manufactured by us has been aged at least three years, with a maximum age of seven years. Unfortunately, there is no specific way to tell the approximate age of the bamboo in a case of our flooring. Polyethylene foam padding does provide cushioning, so the floor will have a softer feel, when this type of underlayment is used.

Answer:
I just use a light furniture polish and light scratches buff right out, if they are down to the wood like a couple from my dogs nails, the polish will bring the color back, but the indent is still there, they have a product called unifix for damaged planks and you dont have to tear up the whole floor to replace a damaged plank.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Floor We have a solid bamboo floor which was no longer available and needed something which matched the look/color for the adjacent room, but was DIY friendly (click-together). This product was a really good match and the price was right. We special-ordered 12 boxes, shipped to store, which took almost 2 weeks to come in from California. Overall the quality was as expected, with only about 4 boards with defects and/or damage from shipping. It cut with a table saw (with a new quality blade) easily. It locked together and installed very well. Since it is an engineered product with only about a 1/16" of real bamboo on top, it is not an extremely hard surface, so it will dent easier than other flooring. Be careful and use pads under all furnishings! July 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Beautiful! I chose this particular flooring because of the reviews & the photos other reviewers included. Also, the HD consultant said they were very "nice floors". The overall color is warm brown & the pieces have a beautiful subtle variation of color, some darker, some lighter- giving them a very natural looking appearance. The day of the scheduled installation, the floor guys arrived & saw that our concrete floors were un-level [very un-level] We had to have them "leveled" with concrete before they could begin the click & lock installation. It required thirteen 50 lb bags & lots of extra labor- this added significant cost to what had been a relatively modest project but I'm trying to be positive- it was an unexpected home improvement. It's now 3 days later & the floor is complete & we are very happy. I look forward to being able to do the 3 remaining bedrooms with Home Legend Horizontal Toast bamboo very soon- after I find out about how level the existing concrete floor is. I hope this helps- good luck with whatever you decide. October 6, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is absolutely amazing flooring! Before ordering this flooring I did some research on the quality and strength as I have a dog and three young boys who might as well be wild animals. To my surprise after installing this hardwood in my dining room and kitchen, it is much stronger than I expected. We live in a condo on the third floor and have to worry about the noise generated to the units below so make sure you buy a good pad/vapor barrier for this floor. After the install we were surprised to find that it was actually quieter to walk on than our old carpet. The combination of the thickness of the hardwood coupled with the BlackJack padding made it both look and feel amazing. One thing to consider with click-lock flooring is that you're going to have a decent amount of waste if you don't pay attention to the end you're cutting. My father and I did the install and realized after the first few boards that we were creating waste by cutting the wrong end. Keep this in mind and you won't have much waste at all! We could not be happier with this purchase! May 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hardwood Flooring Will to start off i bought hardwood flooring because i have a mobile home and have six children. The carpet in our home became so dingy it was awful. Thank god for home depot flooring. We decided that we need new flooring, so we shopped for the ids sake. We decided that a floor that wouldnt leave stains is best for our family. eventually we had to move out all furniture and install the flooring. That was a huge task. But we got it done in two days. It was very pretty afterwards.I love my new flooring. Thank you so much for having a home depot near by. December 10, 2010
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I thought The layer of actual bamboo on this flooring is very, very thin, maybe 1/8 of an inch. The rest is a composite wood. I ordered it on the website and didn't realize that it was not what I had looked at in the store, and when it arived, I was a little disapointed. The finish scratches really easily, too. That said, it went together great and looks beautiful. It's an average product, nicer than laminate, but you definately get what you pay for. If I had it to do again, I would get the slightly more expensive version that had much thicker bamboo on the surface. October 17, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install, chop saw a must This is a quality product. We had so many cuts around doors, corners etc. but we never had any problems with locking mechanism of engineered wood floor. Outstanding color consistency with just enough variation to keep it from appearing to uniform. It makes my kitchen look bigger and it makes me feel good to know that a cousin and I installed it. Fantastic! March 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Looking Product Bamboo floors look great. I started with the kitchen and living room and liked it so much I put them in our bedroom as well. Word of warning, use felt bottom on ALL furniture and have guests remove their shoes, especially if they are wearing heels. Product is easy to install and looks great, but if dents and scratches easy so if that is a problem for you, I would recommend looking into harder surfaces. March 5, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Scratches easily It looks okay...a little on the cheap side. If you have dogs with long nails, it scratches really easily. It's also really slippery. Also, it's difficult to clean as it leaves streaks whatever type of cleaning product you use. If your budget is small, I would recommend it, but if you can afford something better, I would recommend getting floor that is a little more sturdy and scratch-resistent. February 22, 2013
