Product Overview

78 in. length, hardwood veneered stair nose is a flush molding. It is used to cover the front edge of the stair tread, giving it a finished professional look. It is also used to cover the edge of floor which drops off to a lower level. For added security and safety, the molding should be nailed and glued. The prefinished molding coordinates with its corresponding style of floor.

i want to get 1200sqft of kinsley hickory flooring, however after reading the review on the trim i am a little hesitent. Does Home Legend make the stair nose in solid hickory? I have a finished lower level that we use a lot and i don't think the MDF will not hold up.

If they don't can you tell me what stain will match? Ill havs to see if i can make my own.

Answer:
Yes, our stair noses are designed to work on the long and short edges of the flooring planks. Since the installation method of the stair nose will require a heavy duty construction adhesive, you can install the stair nose tight on the top step.

Customer Reviews

Rated 1.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Love the flooring, but trim pieces are a big disappointment I installed 900 square feet of 1/2 inch Kinsley Hickory without any problems and love the appearance of the flooring. The boards were mostly longer pieces, with maybe 10-15% medium to short pieces and lots of color variation and distressing. There is unfortunately some annoying popping noise, even though I stapled (1/4 inch, 18 gauge) every 6" on premium underlayment and a solid sub-floor. The trim pieces are another matter - the wood veneer on the trim is much thinner than what is applied to the flooring, and the veneer seems to be covered with a plastic-like film that can scratch easily and is hard to cover with marker, stain, etc. The stair nosing is especially cheap - the veneer doesn't entirely cover the underside of the trim, so with my open-sided staircase I can see bare wood (mdf) along the side. Home Legend could easily have added an extra 1/2 inch of veneer to prevent this problem. Many of the trim pieces were scratched, dented, chipped, or poorly cut. August 2, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointed w/ Home Legend We purchased Home Legend flooring (Distressed Barrett Hickory) and because they didn’t make a stair nose and trim to match we had to get the Kinsley Hickory. The Home Depot rep said that is was what was recommended. Needless to say, Home Legend really botched it on this product and their service. First of all, we purchased everything at once and when we got ready to lay the flooring we realized they had shorted us a strip of stair nose. We called Home Depot who then called Home Legend to get the missing piece sent. They refused to rush the delivery so two weeks later (floor done) we finally had the stair nose. But…it was so heavily scratched that we weren’t able to use it. After returning it, purchasing another piece and waiting two more weeks we received the wrong piece of stair nose. Rather than wait two more weeks we modified the wrong piece to make it work. The product also scratches very easily. Home Legend seems to have missed the boat on quality control and customer service as no apologies or accommodations were made to remedy all of our headaches. Wish we would have finished the floor without the stair nose. August 20, 2013
