Customer Questions & Answers

How does it stand up to: 1) office type chairs w/casters used many hrs each day, & 2) various sized dogs playing & trying get traction w/ toenails?

Asked by: Anonymous
The patterns on these floors are a VERY thin film/laminate. While the cork will last and is quite durable, there is a good chance that the dogs will scrape the "look" off the top of the flooring (this happened to me) if you don't keep putting extra coats of polyurethane on every year.

Customer Reviews

Lisbon Natural 1/2 in. Thick x 11-3/4 in. Wide x 35-1/2 in. Length Cork Flooring (23.17 sq. ft. /case) is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality This product is merely a thin veneer of cork (almost like a picture of cork) glued to a cork base. The problem is even when you seal the cork with 2 coats of polyurethane as required, it's still can be scratched. When it is scratched it reveals the darker base. I have 4 coats of polyurethane on mine and it’s still getting scratched. Better quality cork is NOT a veneer and that's why scratching and denting don't affect the look of the product as much. I've had this floor down for less than 6 months and I purchased over 325 SQ FT....I will probably pull it up within a year a redo the floor with a better quality cork. This was an expensive mistake!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Corkwood is NOT CORK!!! Don't be fooled! This floor is NOT Cork Oak (Quercus Suberus) it is Corkwood (Leitneria floridana)! Home Legend has used a VERY CHEAP "cork like" substance because it has a name that can "confuse" the general population. This floor is "low priced" because it is NOT from the Cork Oak (very expensive material). If you have purchased this product because you thought you were buying real cork (from Portugal) then take it back! You will NOT receive the benefits you thought you were getting!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid OK Cork Installed this in a ~280 sq. ft. basement room. I was hoping this would click into another Home Legend engineered product, but it didn't. Installation was straight forward. The tongues were fragile, you can't hit them with anything or they will deform and won't click into a new piece. It was difficult to tap the pieces together without lifting the edge of the cork. The seams don't sit perfectly flat. Finally, be aware you need to put a sealer on the floor once it's installed. It is much darker than the picture, almost a Masonite color, and the pattern is ~ 1.5" square. It still looks much better than a "bulletin board" cork floor. Also, even over DriCORE, it's warmer than the other engineered flooring.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from love the cork, but not the seams wish the pattern had better disguised the seams. I would get all over cork with no design next time. Or go with stone or tile. It seemed like a great option and maybe in time will show that it holds up well. It feels great on the feet. The fact that Home Depot would ship to Hawaii though made the difference!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from you can't get it wet - at all This flooring is installed in a property that we rent, otherwise we would never own it. You cannot get it wet - at all. This includes wet feet when you jump out of the shower, small drips you might have off condensation from a glass you're carrying - nothing. I don't know where on Earth this flooring would be appropriate. We have had to put throw rugs all throughout the house to avoid damage to the finish - which defeats the purpose of living in a place carpet free. We are starting to see damage to the finish from inadvertent exposure to water - from carrying a wet umbrella into the house, to small drips from drying off from the shower. And to clean it, you can only use a mildly damp cloth only to clean up a localized spill "when absolutely necessary" i.e., you cannot mop this floor. I would never, ever install this purposely.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality!! This is the worst flooring I have ever used. Anything and everything scratches, chips or gouges the finish. I will have to replace this floor soon and its not even been a year yet. What an expensive mistake!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from awesome wall board Would not use as flooring but makes a great wall board.
Date published: 2012-11-20
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Install Just put it down. Time will tell. Good so far. You just have to be careful when handling the pieces of floor, as the edges of the cork will chip if you knock them up against something.
