Answer:
Water and SW Bamboo wont mix very well. While I am sure it will handle normal use in a bathroom, it will be the common problems (overflowing toilet, leaky shower, etc) that will invariably happen and destory or damage a wood floor.

What specific installation method does the manufacture recommend and warranty? Only nail down?

We'd like to use 160 sq feet of this Strand Woven Solid Bamboo Flooring on a second floor addition we're building this summer. The subfloor is planned to be plywood (not OSB or particle board). Multiple HD reviewers of this product have noted that nail down installation is nearly impossible due to its extreme hardness (Janka rating of 3000 and THD hardness number of 5). Although the HD product website notes that nail or glue installation is acceptable, my local HD store said only nailed installations would be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. They said use of glue would void the manufacturer's warranty coverage. Is this true? Is there some specific way to be successful when nailing this product (i.e. specific nails, higher air pressure on nail gun)? If glue installation is acceptable, what type should be used and are there specific instructions available to do so? We will be having professional contractors install this floor, but even they are a bit skeptical about the proper way to do so at this time. I'm hoping some good up-front advice will help us have a successful installation. The product display in my local HD is BEAUTIFUL in person. Combine that with the reasonable cost for such a high quality solid wood product and LONG warranty--I'm really hoping we can use this flooring!

The flooring is beautiful your right. I had spoken with both HD and the manufacturer about the issue and the proper way to install this flooring. I used the exact flooring cleat spec they suggested I use without success. I had my heart set on this flooring also however I was not going to glue down hardwood flooring and unfortunately I had to find something else.

Answer:
The '7-layer aluminum oxide finish' is typically a finish for laminate flooring systems, and not for real hardwood floors.
This particular bamboo flooring system has a CrystalGuard scratch resistant finish, meaning it can withstand just as much traffic as any other finish.

Can a steam mop be used on bamboo? Mine has several settings, one is "dust" so it's not a huge plume of hot hot steam coming out, and steam dries rather quickly, would it be okay?

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Chips WAY too easy and lots of printer errors on the finish I was pretty disappointed with this flooring. First, you need to understand what you’re buying. This is bamboo with a printed layer over the top. When it chips, it will look like the "chip" picture. I have no idea what caused this chip. Nothing notable dropped in that area and it’s been two weeks since I installed it. It also scratches easily, and since it’s just a printed layer over it, there’s really not much you can do about it. Also, since it’s what basically looks like a plastic layer, I’d love some ideas on how to do any kind of repair on these things. When installing, at least 10% of the boards had some sort of printing error, so watch out when you are installing. I’ve include a sample. I caught most of them, but missed a couple until after it was too late. You can live with most of them, but they are definitely there. In addition, you have to watch, because the printed layer is sometimes not perfect on the end (pictured). Also, note the end of the real product doesn’t really look like what was shown in the product images. On the plus side, since it’s a printed product, there isn’t much variation from box to box. One part of the pattern is really pretty, but it seemed to have the most occurrences of the printing error. It’s a pretty floor, but given it already has a few scratches and that chip, I’m just really worried about how long it will stay that way. Of course any flooring will have its issues, but if I’d had this information before, I would have went a different direction. If you’re looking seriously at it, I’d probably buy a box or two first, just to check it out. The sample just doesn’t give enough to see what you’re really getting. September 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent floor for reasonable price The floor looks great, very modern and quite comfortable to walk on - with bare feet. Would give more stars but it does scratch easily and the instructions were not clear. I had a handyman install. I recommend using felt on all furniture and remove shoes. A lighter color may have been better choice with kids. We used this flooring to cover old hardwood floors in bad shape that connected to room with plywood only. Former owners had carpeted the area. Sprung for good underpayment - elastilon- which was costly but made installation much easier. Still have not found appropriate molding for hearth area. Will make our own. Overall good value for the money. June 29, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful floor, impossible to install. I purchased this flooring because its absolutely beautiful, however it's 100% impossible to install unless you want to glue it down. After I had attempted and failed to install it myself I called in a professional and they had the same results themselves. Maybe I received a bad batch of bamboo that was just too hard, the flooring would split and the face would chip. I returned my whole order and ordered something else. I was very disappointed and still am because this was exactly what I was looking for. Home Depot was very good to work with and was willing to accept my return with the damaged wood for a full return. Please look elsewhere when looking for flooring. March 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very happy with the product, HD....meh.... Installed 1600 sq feet of product over a concrete subfloor in a high-rise. The product is beautiful, and relatively easy to install. Other reviews advise against a nail-down application, and while I did not nail it down, i can see that it would be an issue. I utilized the Elastilon underlayment installation system, and it worked perfectly. Overall the product was exceptionally uniform, and had few boards had imperfections. Cutting the boards does result in some surface chipping, so avoid butt joints at all costs. Handling the boards also has a tendency to jam about a thousand splinters into your fingers, so use gloves! After use, the surface showed no scratches or wear. This was a major concern (and still is), but it seems to be holding up perfectly. April 14, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Scratches easier than expected, must staple or glue to install Reported to be a "floating floor" but in reality needs staple or glue installation. Then, despite its "5" hardness rating, scratches easier than I was anticipating. Because it is a laminate floor, it is not amenable to refinishing like a normal hardwood floor. If you are buying a floor for longevity, avoid this product. That being said,it is a huge upgrade from the carpet i had before October 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by glue dow only with a Jenga rating of 3000 strand woven is nearly impossible to nail down. Use a high quality glue that is made for bamboo. March 31, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible quality Chips during installation which is not straightforward. Buy at least 20% more, you'll need it. Or just go engineered and save the hassle. February 19, 2013
