Does this flooring have to be glued down? I thought although it was a solid, it was also a click/floating floor?

Answer:
It does float but cracks too much. Make sure you have very level floors if you go with this product. I don't think gluing it down would help.

Answer:
This flooring, if installed by you or a contractor independent of Home Depot, can be installed as a floating floor. If Home Depot is installing it, it must be glued down with a urethane-based flooring adhesive.

Hello apal and thank you for your question.
The Home Legend Strand Woven Espresso Solid Bamboo Flooring is in the Coastal Collection and it is beautiful!
This is a solid click-lock product, however, the manufacturer recommends that the flooring be glued directly for best results.
Best wishes on your new floor.

I installed this as a floating floor because the instructions said to do it that way. It makes a huge amount of noise. It was recommended to me to wait a week or so until the flooring settles to see if the noises go away. I just read an answer that says this should be glued down. Which way is correct?

Answer:
The floors crack because the subfloor is uneven. Unfortunately, the cracking does not go away. I've had the floors on my second level for about 9 months now and they still crack. You'll have to level your floor or choose another product :)
I've heard that gluing still doesn't work. I didn't glue them down but I could see how that would be the case.

This flooring can be installed as either a float or a glue-down. The flooring is not supposed to make a significant amout of noise, however. The potential of noise will be greatly reduced by glueing the floor down, since it will then lose its propensity to shift under pressure. You may want to file a warranty claim on the floor before deciding to glue it, which is a much more permanent installation Read More

I wouldn't put this floor in such a big area. It took me 6 weeks of DIY time to install 400sf. Also, the flooring cracks too much. Save yourself a headache...

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid at all costs.... I bought over 600 sf of this flooring because it was the only one compatible with my heated floors. As others have mentioned, the planks snap and crack but mainly due to uneven floors. My biggest gripe with this product is that most of it (80-90%) comes damaged. You name it, the planks have it. Scratches, nicks, dents, warping, stains, marks, bubbles, chipping, etc. Due to this, your install time would quadruple because you need to open all your boxes and sort out the good planks. Then you have to use the bad planks to make your smaller cuts. I regret buying this floor and will throw it out once I have enough money to install new flooring. That's $5k down the drain. I will be replacing this with tile flooring as soon as I can.... December 3, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by High maintenance floor avoid dark colors! The flooring is beautiful but noisy and very high maintenance. The dark color shows all marks and scratches easily. Less than one week after install and already multiple scratches. Had I known this I would have opted for lighter color. Installation is in basement so really not a big deal but would not recommend for high traffic areas. We will be getting area rugs and investing in a sharpie marker to try and cover the scratch marks. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Snap, Crackle, and Pop Our finished floor is beautiful and we are extremely happy with how this espresso floor enhanced the space. However, there are a few negatives that potential buyers should be aware. We installed 450 sq ft over a 4mm felt underlayment. After walking on this “floating” floor for about two days we could no longer tolerate the snap, crackle and pop with every step. This flooring is extremely noisy. I took up the whole floor, stacking the boards in reverse order so I could put it back down in proper order. I put the floor back down with 1 ½ inch staples. However, because this flooring wasn’t designed to be nailed/stapled down (like a typical tongue and groove floor), using staples presented its own challenges. Our decision to even attempt using staples with this flooring was a last ditch effort to salvage the money we spent on the purchase. This is beautiful flooring, but only purchases it if you don’t mind the snap, crackle and pop with each and every step. Also, while the flooring is very hard, it is not very difficult to scratch the espresso finish. I found that a black permanent marker covers minor scratches fairly well in a pinch, but the Minwax Ebony wood finish stain marker does even a better job. November 25, 2011
