Answer:
This flooring can be used in a bathroom setting, or any other 'wet area', which is a room with pipes of runnign water through them. Extra precautions will need to be taken in such a room, however. Please see our installation instructions for more details.

I have to lay down a cork insulating layer over my concrete base in order to install bamboo or hardwood flooring. Can the bamboo be glued to that type of subflooring?

Answer:
why do you "have to lay down cork insulation"? I used the foam sheeting that is used for "click lock" floors and it worked perfectly. I would think that cork would work but would that add an unreasonable amount of thickness especially where any transition comes in like doorways? This is a free floating floor, not a glue down or nail down floor.

Answer:
Our solid bamboo products can only be installed over three different kinds of subfloors: plywood, solid hardwood, and concrete. It must be nailed into the plywood and solid hardwood subfloors and glued onto concrete. Any other installation method, on any other surface, would put the warranty at risk.

Answer:
If the floor is "smooth", then just the usual foam underlay should work. if rough then you may need to float the floor (a thin coat of fix-all to fill imperfections and rough spots) or use underlayment.

Answer:
This solid bamboo flooring can be installed over concrete as long as subfloor preparation is conducted and an appropriate urethane flooring adhesive is used. The Roberts R1509 and R1530 are good examples of an appropriate flooring adhesive.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely Beautiful!!! This flooring is the best I have ever seen. It is durable, beautiful to look at, and very decorative. We had it installed in the kitchen, and dining/ living rooms. Although we first thought of a Pergo type flooring, we changed our minds and choose the bamboo instead. We are in a sandy environment, and although our family removes our shoes upon entering, sadly others do not. No scratches!!! I would recommend this flooring to anyone---I can't say enough about it. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hard as a Rock with a learning curve Although I did a lot of research on this product, nothing prepared me for the weight and density of the Bamboo. I went with a staple down install and it took a while to learn the nuances of the stapler but once that was learned, The product went down and is very good looking and solid underfoot. I decided to do my upstairs as well now! October 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WITH OUT A DOUBT, THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING SOLID HARD WOOD FLOOR. Although we had Home Depot install the flooring, I could tell it was not for the novice. I'm not sure why so many write about this floor scratching so easily. We have had the floor in place for nine months plus now and it looks just as good as it did the day it was installed. We have a German Shepard, again they talk about their pets nails scratching the floor, We don't have a problem at all with his nails and the floor. However, I keep his nails trimmed. I'm not sure if others have done this or not, after we decided on this floor, I placed felt self stick pads on EVERYTHING that sits on the wood floor, making sure to pull off the metal or plastic glides that were on so of the furniture legs. With out a doubt, I would HIGHLY recommend this floor to anyone. March 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by beautiful flooring This flooring is just beautiful and it was fairly easy to install. We had to rent the bamboo flooring gun from the Home Depot. August 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Look Was going to install myself but chickened out and glad I did. Installer was not from Home Depot. He said this was an extremely hard wood. Had to substitue nailers as the first few rows were so difficult. Two guys. Said this was usually a 3-4 hour job. Took two hours first day and almost 7 the second day. Woould not hesitate to purchase this again. It looks great. September 5, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tiger Wood Bamboo Flooring (solid not locking) I love the flooring, its gorgeous. However while instaling it it splinters, making it a pain. And it also scratches really easy. Although these defaults, i would 110% recommend to anyone else. The stuggle was absolutley worth it. I would recommend using Orange Glow after you've instaled it, it really makes the wood look great. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent kitchen floor. positives: this is a very neutral flooring, not very dark or light. just enough to add interest against my white cabinets. holding up extremely well in kitchen use. negatives: did not install itself. June 12, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Saw it in a house I might buy the house is done beautifully. But this floor looks just awful with the rest of the house. Wonder if I can strip it? If not I plan to replace it with red oak 3 inch planks when I purchase it. This stuff is UGLY! January 28, 2012
