Can I nail this to a ceiling?

We plan to put bamboo on the floors in a cabin and want to also place them on the ceilings in the living spaces (high) and the bedrooms. Can we nail this to the ceilings successfully?
Asked by: MountainGirl
No, you can not nail this to a ceiling.

Can this flooring be installed on a concrete slab with a moisture-blocking sealant and a cork underlayment?

Would the cork layer help muffle sound and provide thermal insulation?
Asked by: cyhm
Yes. We installed ours directly to wood subfloor with just craft paper as underlayment. Since our experience has demonstrated that this product is in fact water proof (the manufacturer does not make this claim), I am confident you could install this on a concrete slab with a vapor barrier and using glue.

Home depot shipped from a 3rd party retailer, wood must have been returned from another customer left over from a job, some boards had nails in them, some damaged in shipping, store pick up only for me from this point on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from brushed woven tobacco Have had this installed for a few years. Opted to nail down which worked well although i needed a special cleat nailer. I used this in my kitchen. Cons: I regret getting such a dark finish. Shows scratches , crumbs , water spots a lot. Impossible to keep clean. Also expands and contracts quite a bit with the seasons.

Highly variable colors among boxes suggests inconsistent colors across lots. We have been trying to match colors to lay floors, but have drastic differences that don't match the samples. After three separate orders, we still don't have the right stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful mid tone classic looking floor. I am not the greatest 'decorator' and have trouble making a decision when choosing things like flooring, especially when the cost can be expensive. I love this floor. I just put it down (a friend helped and he does have some experience in this type of thing but I think I could have done it myself, it was not hard at all. Just making sure the measurement was right before cutting would have been my biggest problem. Laying it was easy) in the kitchen and it is a mid spectrum shade that also has variations in the grain color giving it a very nice look. I also have dogs and cats, 13 of them and love to cook so the kitchen gets a lot of wear. This was newly installed so I really cannot discuss the long term durability, but I have cleaned it 3 times a day so far (I have a Hoover floormate) and it looks great after each cleaning I read how to clean it and do plan on getting an area rug to help protect it even more. It is a color that would be enhanced by many wall colors and seems to go with other woods quite well. I love it so much I am thinking of replacing my other floors with it. Now to save the money! (I can add a photo if anyone wants... just ask)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly Durable This stuff is amazing! We love the light color, that is what first drew our attention. I liked the amazing durability. I tried my best to scratch the store sample and I could not. Even after I scratched the surface with a screwdriver, because it is solid bamboo, the scratch just faded to the point that it was not noticeable. The only challenge was the installation. We did not want to go through the expense or toxicity of glue, we wanted our flooring nailed. Our first installer could not figure out how to do it. His fancy nail gun would either split the flooring, or the nail would not go through. We later found a handyman (not a flooring specialist) who simply used a cordless finish nailer to nail the floors down. It worked great. The floors look great and are solid. Here is what is even more amazing. Our air conditioner drain line clogged and the cut out switch failed so the drip pan overflowed, went through a ceiling and ended up on this flooring. The flooring was submerged in standing water. No problem. We simply cleaned up the water and the flooring looked like new. No swelling, no noticeable discoloration. This is an amazingly durable product that looks great. The manufacturer was also really helpful and supportive. While we used a smaller nail than recommended on the instructions, we ended up with exceptional results. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You'll be happy We have had this in our home over a year now. I specifically waited to review because I was most concerned about its " actual" durability because of its thickness. That being said, its hard stuff!!! Within the first 6 months of it being down my wife dropped a frying pan on the floor. The pan was dented and not a scratch was on the floor. It looks fantastic when finished and is easy for any diy- er to put down. Very much recommended. By the way, I have 2 children under 3 and they have been unable to warp the floors with their milk and juice spills. Make sure you use a bamboo nailer and test an area before installing to test your psi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This flooring is great This is my second order for this product. After seeing how great it looked in the first room, I decided to put it in my bedroom. I have 3 very large dogs, and I can't believe how well it has stood up. Great product with a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased with the flooring, installation was a bear! My husband, retired builder, wanted to glue down this flooring for various reasons. We should have researched more before starting. Glue got smeared around on everything. We used mineral spirits to try to wipe it up, but we weren't able to tell that residue was left. After the installation was complete we saw residue all over place - lots of smugey spots. Went on line to the website of the maker of the adhesive - Roberts. We should have done that first! Roberts said to use a particular remover that they make, but that it has to be used on 'fresh' glue, not glue that is days old. Went to HD and they told us to try Goof Off. Said it would be safe and would remove the glue. Worked on some spots but not all. We were on our hands and knees for two days working on removing the spots. I don't think any installer would go with glueing the floor and I would also say Don't Glue! But we are pleased with the floor - beautiful color.
