Customer Questions & Answers

is this product made with formaldehyde?

Asked by: ed
Dear customer, Yes. Home Legend laminate and engineered wood floorings have earned the Greenguard Gold certification from UL Environment ( a division of Underwriters Laboratories). To earn UL/Greenguard Gold certification, the product must pass standards which are more stringent than CARB 2 requirements.

my home is on a concrete slab. what are the pros. vs. cons of glue down vs.floating this product?

Also, on a slab, can I choose between the 3/8 inch Click floor or the 1/2 inch Enginnered floor and what are the pros vs. cons of each?
Asked by: Anonymous
Pro of full spread glue: Fully secured to the floor; Con of full-spread glue: Can be messy; some glue mar the finish of the flooring if not removed immediately. Pro of floating installation (joint-glue T&G): less messy; easier to remove when the time comes; easier to replace planks if damaged at a later date Pro of 3/8" click: no glue necessary; easy installation/easy removal Pro of 1/2": has a 5 layer ply substrate; can be nailed/stapled or floated (joint-glue)

What is the thickness of this product, what is the actual measurement

Asked by: Anonymous
When measured, the exact measurements of several samples measured from 0.483 to 0.473 of an inch. In fractions, this is equal to 15/32” to 31/64”. In conclusion, it's anywhere from 1/32" to 1/64" short of a 1/2" which is within the allowed tolerance level.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Product description inaccurate Let me start by stating that the installed flooring looks incredible. However, the online product description indicates all of the planks are 47 1/4 " long. The package also indicates it contains 16 pieces of that length. In reality, there are 8) full length planks, 8) 2/3 length and 8) 1/3 length pieces in each case. This can cause problems as you draw from a series of open cases because the full lengths are on the top and may be installed first, unknowingly leaving shorter lengths for the rest of the job. The in-store display states the product contains random lengths. That isn't completely accurate, but, it will prevent installation problems. Also, even after acclimating the flooring for over a week in the installation location, there was significant bowing experienced. The planks were completely flat when removed from the boxes. However, within 15 minutes they curled up as much as 1/4 " on each end. This is not a big problem if they are being stapled or nailed. On this glue down installation it was problematic. When the tongues were interlocked with surrounding pieces it did eventually flatten. Except for the size confusion and minor installation issues, this flooring looks great and I would use it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good flooring Floored entire house, except baths, with this beautiful flooring. Professionally installed on concrete slab using moisture resistant adhesive (which was very expensive!) Results were excellent with one caution: be careful moving heavy objects as this flooring is not as hard as I expected. Our labrador's nails marred the surface. Other than that, we're very happy with this flooring.
