For the transition from the engineered wood floor to ceramic tile and to vinyl, which type of moulding should I buy?

This is for tigerwood engineered flooring, the tile is approximately 3/8" thick from the slab concrete to the top of the tile which you walk on. The vinyl flooring is regular rolled out, glued to slab. I need to know which type of moulding to buy for these two situations.
Asked by: Thor
we used the t-mold with the metal bracket under it with the 2 transition pieces in the package--will work for higher or lower transitions. it is made for laminate and located in that section. it is 6'6" long and matches the tigerwood. i would, however recommend not buying the engineered tigerwood.

Tigerwood 1/2 in. Thick x 3-1/2 in. Wide x Varying Length Engineered Exotic Hardwood Flooring (20.71 sq. ft. / case) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 10.

I wanted wood, but it would have raised the floor above the adjacent floors. It is beautiful to look at for sure, but it squeaks and cracks when you walk on it--the manufacturer will blame the sub-floor but I had a brand new sub-floor installed. The manufacturer will also blame the installation, but my kitchen remodelers were super pros. Also, it is extremely fragile. It scratches and dents super easily. For example, when my dog walks on it, his nails dent the floor. The boy is 30 pounds. It's been barely two years and the floor is so dented and scratched it looks ten years old. I'm trying to ignore the racket when I walk on it. It has been the only sour note of an otherwise perfect kitchen remodel.

The house had it in a couple rooms when we bought it and wanted to continue it in other rooms and Home Depot is the only company that carries it, so happy we found it. So easy to keep clean. Plan to order more of the same in the spring so please keep it in stock! Thank you

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Changes color .. beautiful floor .. would still recommend "HL14P / HL14P Tigerwood 1/2 in. Thick x 3-1/2 in" - copied from my invoice. -agree that floor does dent easily and hardness rating should be lowered. -the color changes .. darkens .. and quickly .. in only six months. The areas that are protected, under rugs and inside closet, stay the original lighter shade. A previous engineered floor did exactly the opposite.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good, may not be that durable installed this over 1000sqft using staples. it goes together easy and is generally easy to work with. check the edges and corners for defects, a small amount of the peices will have these. the layer of tigerwood on top is very thin, it is easily damaged... such as dropping a metal wrench on it. Once the top layer is damaged there is not much you can do other than lay down a rug. i imagine this isn't much different for most engineered floors, however for this particular one i can tell you that the tigerwood is thin and the layer of plywood underneith it is soft - meaning that unsuspecting impacts will cause damage. this seems like a floor you would not want in high-impact/traffic areas. i also don't think you should buy this floor if your hoping to have it down for 20-30 years. I'd say this is good for 5-10 years and then will need to be replaced due to wear. It is a beautiful wood and the floor looks amazing, however no shoes/heals or horse play seems to be the rule.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great look, really added the color texture that we were looking for. My only disappointment thus far is durability. This isn’t the first engineered floor that I have installed, but it seems to scratch much easier and heavy objects have created dents and dimples in the surface. But I choose this product for thickness and because it was tongue and groove which made the installation much easier. I would still recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed The title says it--we are disappointed. We just laid 700 sq. ft. of this tigerwood and it looks cheap and has already scratched. Also, the edges at the ends of many boards are rough and do not transition to the adjoining board without leaving a raised seam. The installation was easy enough, done by a professional installer, but the appearance is that of a laminate--there isn't the depth of solid wood. Another very odd fact is that most boxes contained uniform length pieces, however a few boxes had numerous half-sized pieces which threw the flow of the install off a bit. I would never buy this brand again and would recommend going with solid wood--its worth the extra cost.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The home Legend Tigerwood is a beautiful floorlng floor but it has drawbacks I have installed engineered and clicklock wood flooring from various manufacturers and I prefer engineered floating floors over other installation methods. The tigerwood in my den is beautiful but the top veneer is extreemly thin and I expect it is likely to fail under heavy traffic. I planned to use it on my staircase but had to order the stair nosing online. When I received it I noticed it was not engineered or solid hardwood as descried, but a veneer covered masonite. The veneer appeared to be luan mahogany and dit not even resemble a close match. Stair nosing should not be veneer as it will not hold up. I returned the nosing to the store with no problem. I wound up sanding, staining and finishing the existing steps after removing the carpeting. After much labor I am pleased with the look and plan to install a stair runner. I installed tigerwood on the stair landing and plan to use it on other rooms in the house. Stay clear of the stair nosing for this product.
