Answer:
If you don't plan on moving it, you can leave the wheels off. But the cart is pretty heavy. After mine was assembled we had to roll it to the kitchen and lift it to take it up a step. It was manageable even though it was heavy but i would not want to be moving it around without the wheels.

Answer:
Depends on how tall you are. Leaving off the wheels makes it a few inches below counter height, as in awkwardly low for many. Either way, the wheels aren't necessary, just convenient.

Answer:
No, not a bad idea. I thought about it myself. but you WOULD need to make some custom fixed legs for it that are about the same height as the wheels, just like you would for your own sofa.

Thank you for your inquiry. There are no issues with leaving the casters off this unit. I would likely use stick on levelers to insure the item is level.

Sure, if you scuff sand it. But then why buy a lacquered oak cabinet. Buy something cheap, instead. OK, cheaper.

Answer:
Ask your local paint dealer what they can do for it. It has a poly finish over all of it. You'd probably have to sand all of it some and prime it to make it work. I don't know about a kitchen counter sort of paint you'd need. That paint would take a beating if you use it in your kitchen.

The product can be painted, but it would require sanding for paint to adhere. Alerting the unit however, would void the warranty of the product.

How sturdy is the drop leaf when exended?

I've heard from a few people who had a similar product that the drop leaf wasn't very sturdy, and they couldn't put much weight on it without it collapsing.

What is the quality of this product? Can you put the weight of a few serving dishes with food on it comfortably?

Thanks!

I have put a vegetable steamer on it as well, but I will not put my crock pot on it just because I don't think it could hold that much weight all day. Also, I would not recommend putting your weight on it. My son has a habit of leaning on the table when he's sitting or standing. We have not had any issues, but again it wasn't built for that type of activity. I would compare it to a folding card table. It gets the job done as a table but you wouldn't use it for really heavy things. Hope this helps! Read Less

Answer:
You could by drilling new holes, but I'm not sure the original holes would all be covered up. The short answer is they are asymmetric, and thus are not directly swappable.

The holes for both the spice rack and towel holder are predrilled. The hole placement would be different for each accessory. You can drill your own holes, but the existing holes would still be visible.

52.5 in. W Kitchen Cart in Natural Wood is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 77.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my kitchen cart Instructions were very easy to follow. I am a grandma and I was able to assemble it by myself with just a little help from my grandson. He needed to help me lift the top and get it off the table I used to build it on. Wood is beautiful and there are no parts made of cardboard with paper pasted on to look like wood, It fits against the wall snugly and will roll out to lift the part of the top that makes it larger. Very happy with this purchase. I was married to a wood shop teacher for 43 years and I know he would have loved this piece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for our needs This is an excellent value. The manufacturer has made assembly relatively easy. The components are generally of good quality and the design is good. So far we are enjoying the extra counter space and cabinets. Really happy with this purchase. The only complaint is that the drawers are not deep. I had hoped to use the drawers to store kitchen tools (spatulas, wooden spoons, etc.) but they aren't deep enough at all. A standard length kitchen utensil will not fit even if inserted diagonally. The drawers do work well for measuring tools, and peelers, but bare that depth in mind when making your purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase! Better than I expected! The part about easy assemble is not true but it's can be assembled in time. A SENIOR CITIZEN put it together stopping to rest frequently. It can be wider with the shelf up and that's the part I like. I looked at many before deciding on this one. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! This is great portable kitchen island! I recently moved from a large house with a big kitchen to an apartment with a tiny kitchen. There is hardly any counter or cabinet space in this kitchen or even room for a table. This cart does the job! Its perfect counter space for preparing meals and the fold-able leaf is perfect as a table or extra space when cooking. Although the leaf is sturdy, it is not as strong as a table or counter top so I would not recommend putting anything really heavy on it such as crock-pot, and if you did it would need to be more toward the center where the support is. The cabinets and drawers were a little smaller than I anticipated. They are a little too small to fit a full size pan and the drawers were a little small too. However, I am a very picky when it comes to things like this and I had to remind myself that this cart is not a full size kitchen, so those were very minor issues. The cart itself is very sturdy and its a beautiful piece of furniture for the price. The cart is wonderful and I highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly very well built and packaged. So after reviewing the prior reviews I was a little nervous about the 5+ hours of assembly time... This Island took me start to finish an hour and a half with a, lets say "helper" (my 4 year old son). which if you have ever had a "helper" you understand that means probably a loss of time. Either way the hutch was well built, easy instructions, and looks wonderful when you get it completed. *Only thing I did to improve on unit is the rear backing panels that slid into groves when everything was said and done moved around and felt "cheap". I took some wooden shims to the inside of these panels to firm up the panels and keep them from rattling or moving in the hutch.

This is the first easy-to-assemble piece of furniture we have bought that was actually easy-to-assemble! All pieces fitted together perfectly and are tight fitting; went together smoothly. Excellent instructions and excellent product. Congrats to Home Depot and the manufacturer for a fine product. We will definitely recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for what we were looking for. This island is perfect for what we were looking for. It was well packaged and fairly simple to assemble, however, there was one piece which didn't line up and had to be manipulated into place requiring small modifications throughout the assembly. Not a big deal just required a little extra effort. Materials are solid and appears as if it will last for many years. Overall we are very pleased with this purchase.
