Answer:
Not sure if you are referring to the "leaf" which allows for seating on one side or the lip of the counter top itself.
The drop down leaf, when pulled out and supported by the pillars on either end, accommodates two chairs/people comfortably.
If you are referring to the counter lip, it extends roughly as far as the top is thick..about an inch?

Answer:
If you are talking about the drop leaf it measures 15.25" from the edge route to the cope on the top itself making the extended length 16.75" . The reveal on the front is 1":door and drawer side and .75" on the ends.

Answer:
Wood. They do not swivel. Simple wood chairs with a light wood seat that matches the top surface and white painted legs and back. Nice chairs, as comfortable as you can get with a plain chair.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality The island came in 5 very large and heavy boxes. It took a long time just to unpack all of the parts. I Assume It was necessary to Package this way to avoid damage. One of the shelves was damaged in the corner but easy to hide and not a big deal. It took 4 dump runs to rid of all the boxes and packaging material. My husband and I put it together pretty easily. Not the first time I have assembled furniture so I didn't find it difficult. Needs two people to assemble and a little muscle since some parts are heavy. Overall, it is a major improvement over the cart style island we had. My two kids use it several times a day. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great kitchen island Easy for two to assemble. Island is very sturdy, look great and excellent value. May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A good product for the money The product was delivered in record time from Home Depot .com. The assembly of the unit was fairly straight forward as most RTA furniture is. You will have to have a fair amount of room to assemble this unit so if you have a smaller kitchen use a different room. Some of the hole drilled require that you line them up with a nail set or punch because they cannot be seen, primarily the top, but all holes are drilled on the money. Some finish blemishes that needed to be touched up, but not bad overall. A good choice for a person that wants a furniture base island for their kitchen. February 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Monarch Kitchen Island w Stools I researched this item on a number of different websites and was astounded to see the variance in pricing. One site listed this same island without stools for over $1500.00. HD came through with the lowest price for the island w stools. I ordered for customer pickup and was blown away. 5 very heavy and very cumbersome boxes. Not a complaint, just an observation. The mudflaps on my Tahoe were approaching ground zero. Wile the pieces were large and cumbersome, I put everything together in about 2 hours. Considering it took me 3.5 hrs to put together a "Office Depot" file cabinet, I figured I did pretty well. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. There were not missing parts or hardware. In fact, there was one extra piece of every different hardware item. In checking the product of flaws or damage, I notice only one spot where the wood had cracked. Because it was a non structural location, I simply fixed it with carpenters glue and clamps. We are VERY happy with the outcome. While the island is heavy, it can be easily moved. It looks and feels solid. Having just moved from an apartment to our new home, we literally started laughing because the island would have barely fit in our former kitchen. In our new home, it looks like it was made for the place. I would highly recommend this product. March 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Love this island. Makes the kitchen look nice and functions great. Better than I thought it would be. March 8, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice piece Great, sturdy pretty island. Only downfall is its very heavy and not real easy to put together without someone helping you to hold other pieces in place December 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice looking product. Beware...self-construction I love the way this looks in our kitchen. It has great finishes and functionally works perfectly for the space that we put it in. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase. However, the quality of the product is VERY closely related to the quality of your assembly. I am an engineer, and was VERY meticulous with how I put this together. Even still, I had to rework several pieces and have and to go back and make tweaks to keep the drawers sliding squarely 3 or 4 times. A great looking product, but in my opinion, for nearly $1000, the end result should be less reliant on the assembler's skill and the manufacturing should be higher quality so that the pieces fit together with less variability. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good choice for a kitchen nook space Assembly is a bit involved but not too bad. One MINUS is that the cam locks never did seem to lock all the way in--I was constantly re-tightening the cams after moving the island only slightly. We debated getting the chairs and using it as a table as well. We did and are very happy that we did. The storage space available is pretty reasonable and the build quality is good (except for those darned cams). April 8, 2015
