For me, they are "extremely" difficult to see. I need to take the thermostat out of the refrigerator to get a better look, but then the thermometer's temperature quickly moves toward room temperature--as one would anticipate. They would have been better off using an all white background with red markings on the dial for the refrigerator and the freezer temperaturre ranges. Read Less

Are These Very Accurate?

We bought two of these and placed them side by side in the fridge. After three hours, one reads 50 F
and the other reads 42 F. Obviously, one or both are inaccurate. I just placed a mercury thermometer by them. I see that they are adjustable, or are they just inaccurate junk?

I have had my new refrigerator/freezer for one full day now and during that period (as everyone knows) adjustments in the refrigerator's thermostat(s) "may" need to be made to customize actual temperatures. It is really great that people like Slick want to know about the accuracy of this or any refrigerator thermometer as it is so very important for health reasons alone to have food maintained at proper temperatures during storage. I relied on the testimonies (reviews) of other Home Depot product reviewers who gave this item a very high rating due to its accuracy and, now that I own and am engaged in using this product, I have found that as I make even "slight" adjustments to my new refrigerator's "separate" refrigerator and freezer thermostats, this thermometer will rise or fall appropriately when these "slight" adjustments are made. Answer:
Basically you get what you pay for. I recommend a digital thermometer with the remote which are much more accurate. The ones you have are analog and provide a basic idea of the temperature range.

Freezer Thermometer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good thermometer for the price. We bought two of these freezer thermometers because our refrigerator died and we wanted to keep track of the internal temperatures using dry ice for both the refrigerator portion and freezer portion. They worked well and I would recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfect Great product. I keep one in each fridge and freezer, very accurate. Helped when I noticed temp was going down in freezer and found ice maker door was stuck open. Thanks Thermometer

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Keep Your Cool This is an inexpensive way to assure you that your refrigerator and freezer are keeping food at optimum temperatures. I havent had it more that two weeks so am giving it four stars. Hopefully it will last longer than the electronic components in most new appliances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good purchase! Takes the guess work out of fridge or freezer temp. High quality and is easy to read.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Other product reviewers cite its accuracy, but for me it is difficult to differentiate temperature ranges on dial I purchased this Home by Smart Choice refrigerator freezer thermometer due to the "extremely" high rating that other Home Depot product reviewers have assigned to it. Accuracy is important and the reviews sure did indicate that this is an accurate product.. I just replaced my defective refrigerator with a new one and I would not argue otherwise--regarding its accuracy. However, the criticism I have of this refrigerator/freezer thermometer is that for me it is difficult to read. Yes, on the "too warm" areas of the dial, there is red coloring; however, when one needs to know readings for the correct refrigerator and freezer settings, the color scale on the dial is a dull blue and grey color. Even with my glasses on, it is tough to see. I will take it out of the refrigerator to get a better look at the settings and, of course, the thermometer's temperature will move closer to room temperature. Also, when I place the thermometer in my "freezer" section, the thermometer's clear class will "cloud out" making it difficult to even see the readings at all. I wound up purchasing a refrigerator/freezer thermometer that has a dial with a white background and two (2) separate areas demarcated in bright red to indicate the proper (acceptable) ranges for the refrigerator and freezer temperatures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed The thermometer was just what I needed to monitor the temperature in our new freezer. Not very expensive. It accurate and meets our need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have item! I purchased two of these thermometers to monitor and adjust the temperature in the refrigerator and freezer. How can you possibly judge the proper temperature setting using the basic number or letter scale used with refrigerator thermostats? This thermometer takes all the guesswork out and you'll be able to accurately set and monitor the temperature. Stop ruining your expensive food due to improper temperature storage. It's also a good way to make sure that the thermostat is working properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not very accurate Product temperature display is not very accurate and somewhat hard to place...will do if you only want to know the approximate temperature.
