First of all, if one feels that a solar light should be bright enough to read by - they're downright delusional. I didn't plan on these illuminating the Eiffel tower with these so I think I had realistic expectations. I ordered 4 sets (6 in each) because I read the reviews of the people who had some that didn't work. Sure enough, there were a handful that didn't work & they went back to the store. The units I mounted worked well but the light didn't last long. I too, replaced the junk batteries that came with them (I used Sanyo Eneloop 1500) and now they stay on ALL NIGHT LONG. I love these little lights but one note of feedback is that the screws & mounting plates rusted immediately - surprising for something that is made to be exposed to the elements. I ditched the brackets, bought some industrial velcro, and used that to mount them to the posts on my deck - stainless staples that I sprayed with flat black paint secured the loop side of the velcro & the hook side went onto the back of each light. I love it & it looks awesome - I've had a lot of friends comment how inviting the deck looks at night now with the lighting. if you don't expect these to light up the world - but get them to throw enough light so you can see the steps & borders of your deck at night, you'll be very pleased (just don't forget to replace the batteries).

These lights work well. They are pretty bright as they have 3 leds per light.
Unique mounting as well - I just use the included brackets (already attached) and can slide onto a small nail or shove into a moulding ...
Uses a standard aaa rechargeable battery.
Set them at ceiling hieght and illuminate 25 square feet per light easily.
Only con is = replace the stock batteries - they died after 2 weeks - all 6...died.
After I replaced the batteries they run 10 hours plus.
After 6 -8 hours sunlight.
Great product but replace the batteries with premium rechargeables - like Energizers

I bought the solar lights to enhance the remodeled deck. They can be turned off when you want to have a dark star gazing night unlike the solar post caps which are always on. These lights emit enough light to see down 13 steps to the ground and the pack covered our 12 X 24 deck in a soft glow.

I bought these lights to provide a little light around the steps to our spa. I thought the small size would be perfect - very unobtrusive, but provide just enough light to see the steps when you're climbing in or out of the spa at night.
Big disappointment - when the lights came on they were certainly bright enough, but the light literally lasted for maybe an hour before they went dark.
We've already returned them to the store for a refund...

they do not put out very much light and they do not stay on for 8 hours as stated. I have them where they can get sunlight from dawn to dusk.
