I see a lot of complaints regarding the need to thin paint for this unit to work correctly. That being said, Does anyone have any experience with stains through this unit?? I am assuming it will work great with stains.

When the weather cleared up enough to paint my fence, found a couple of problems with this airless paint sprayer. After assembling and filing the 1-quart container with water to insure the tool was functioning, noticed the top of the cylinder housing was cracked parallel to the pickup and return ports. This area appears to be very thin plastic. The crack is 3/4" long and had come with the unit, as received. Though the sprayer still worked (just two pressure relief holes), it does not build confidence in the product. Since the water sprayed in a reasonable pattern, I refilled with paint and started spraying. Had to adjust the flow control many times before getting reasonable paint distribution. Quite a bit of 'spitting'. After using a brush to further distribute the paint, I was able to complete 5-sections of fence. That's when the 0.8mm fan spray tip fell apart. There is a kind of locking tooth washer which no longer held the orange part of the tip to the black. This product does not meet my expectations, especially for a one time use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Paint Sprayer Sprayer worked well right out of the box, spent a lot of time trying to get unclogged ,paint needed thinned much more than paint manufacturer recommended.. When it worked it was great, I was painting an additional coat to building with T111 siding so the surface was rough. Had to stop as sprayer nozzle broke and couldn't be repaired and a new one had to be sent from sprayer manufacturer as Home Depot did not carry nozzle at the store. All in all it was quicker than painting the building with a brush. I would recommend the sprayer conditionally that purchaser better be prepared to spend some time working to keep it operating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Highend Paint Sprayer with many options I own this Paint Sprayer, and have used it several times. The unit is versatile, and comes with both the paint reservoir as well as an attachment to connect it to a gallon or 5 gallon bucket. I gave it a 4 because I am not much of a painter myself, and the unit does intimidate me somewhat.... It is well made, easy to set up and easy to clean. I needed to get paint thinner for the sprayer to work the best. You can find thinner next to the paint sprayers in the isle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not so hefty I bought this to paint my garage because it was suppose to be powerful enough to spray latex paint. I painted 1 side of my garage (apprx. 20Lx8H). I poured paint undiluted into the sprayer container. When I tried to start spraying. The paint came out but splattered onto the garage siding. The paint was too thick. So I added water to the paint that was already in the sprayer container and mixed it. The paint then sprayed better. I had to refill the sprayer container several times to finish painting the garage. Each time I refilled the sprayer container I added water and paint and mixed it. Each time that I did refill I added a different amount of water. Not knowing how much to add. Just guessing. The paint spray came out good most of the time but was sometimes too thin. The coverage was inconsistent. The paint would spray out good then all of a sudden thicken up and splatter onto the garage siding. I would shake the sprayer back and forth while spraying to mix the paint and water mixture in the spray container. The paint would then come out thinner and spray well until it happened again. This sprayer if for small jobs that don't require frequent refilling. And it's not powerful enough to spray paint out of a can or bucket unless it's thinned. Even though it comes with parts and a 5' hose for doing so.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from High Maintenance! When I first decided to buy an airless sprayer I told myself that the sprayer had to be simple to use and most of all simple to maintain. I read the two reviews, at the time, and based on their short and succinct replies I decided to take a chance on this product. I could hardly wait to receive it. When I did receive it I was amazed at the large amount of care and detail(s) that needed to be followed to keep the sprayer working. There were also too many working parts, that as mentioned on the instructions sheets, would damage the sprayer if not inserted correctly. One part didn't fit at all. I'm still trying to figure it out in my mind. Based on the above mentioned I did the math and figured out that it would take three times more time to clean/maintain the sprayer than the time it would take to accomplish the job. I had planned to use it for mainly touch ups and re-paints nothing major.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever. My son used it first; would only pull paint thinned so much it looked like colored water. I tried to use it; would not pull even water. Then would not even turn on. We followed all instructions. Total waste of money. Will never purchase another Homeright product.
