Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by One Hit Wonder A nice lightweight saw, started right out of the box after adding gas and oil etc. Stopped the saw to fill the gas tank and hasn't worked since. I guess you get what you pay for!! June 26, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Trouble from the start Got this for Christmas but didn't get it up and running until February. I carefully followed all the instructions, but after 1 10" tree felled and bucked the muffler fell off. NB: the warranty won't cover the lost screws or the damage the red-hot muffler caused to the plastic components as it was rattling around in the casing. After only three trees, the blades are so dull that it can't cut through a 4" branch--it overheats and belches smoke. It frequently stalls, won't start easily (20-30 pulls), and the chain starts running on its own when it finally does start. Perhaps mine was just a lemon, but I'd consider something else. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 2 dead trees = 1 dead chain saw Bought this a couple of days ago to take it camping to cut up some fire wood- 2 small trees later, it was dripping chain oil- and then the thing just stalled and wouldn't start-2 different problems in the first 15 minutes of using it. The trees weren't even big! We're talking like 4 inches around...Pay the extra for a good saw, I'm taking this one back. Maybe its just a lemon-but would you take the chance on another one? it's like an hour travel time each way for me too. June 9, 2009
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy My 7 yr. old son and I (dad) bought this saw new at Home Depot. Took it home and tried starting it for 30 minutes. Followed instructions exactly. Wouldn't start. Took it back and HD could not start it. Returned for another one. Cut a few dead shrubs, chain bent and took back for a second time. Got a third one. Finished cutting a few more dead shrubs and did not use until the following day. Started right up but motor seized. Returned and only received a store credit. Now, this was over a period of three days mind you.Never will buy again. My son jokes everytime we go to HD and walk by chainsaws. "Daddy you wanna buy a fourth Homelite chainsaw"? December 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by impressed After a week of reading reviews and ratings, I chose the Homelite over the Pouland pro, and I am extremely delighted with this saw! I have ran 32oz of fuel, about 2-3hrs of cutting up Black Walnut and Mesquite chunks for rough wood for projects. I cut 26in diameter logs into 2in thick planks. I have stopped and started this saw 20 times today. I cannot stress this enough, USE FRESH FUEL! And if the saw get hot, STOP and let it cool down! This is a mighty little saw that has amazed me! I did switch to an Oregon chain rather quickly, the chain that came on it dulled fast! The carrying case is a big plus! Highly recommended! After it broke in, starts in 3 pulls! July 27, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy this unless you are doing very light work 1st day I used this for about 20 minutes cutting limbs about 2 inches in diameter. The next day it took me 30 minutes to get it started, which was really frustraing. Once started after about 10 minutes cutting branches less that 2 inches the chain popped off. But what really frustrated me was some of the teeth in the chain were eroded down and some were bent so that the chain would not fit back into the bar. Very, very cheaply made. Took it back the next day. Could not afford and ECHO but the store did have a Poulan 20 inch for $30 dollars more, and works well and you can really tell the difference in the quality. Spend the extra $30 and get sometime significantly better April 13, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So Far So Good, Seems to be a good chainsaw! I spent weeks looking at chainsaws on home depot.com. I was in the process of purchasing some acreage that needed a lot and I do mean a lot of small trees and brush cut down and cleared. I have to say that I was leaning towards the 300 dollar echo saw but kept remembering a 16 inch Homelite that I owned probably 25 years or so ago. The reviews that I read here on this saw were not flattering to say the least and I have to say I had my reservations. But finally talked myself into trying this chainsaw knowing that I would be using it a lot within the return period of a month and decided if I did not like it for any reason I would take the saw back and exchange it for a echo. I HAVE TO SAY I WAS REALLY SURPRISED!!! The saw has worked like a champ! I have had absolutely no issues with it for the first month I have had it and have probably actually put 30 or so hours use on it cutting down at least 400 trees ranging from about 3" to 10" in diameter. If you follow the instructions this saw will start easily every time, if you don't you will quickly get frustrated as I did. As soon as I decided to actually read the instructions I have had no problem at all easily starting the saw. The only real complaint I have with the saw is the chain itself. It is really low quality and stretched quickly as well as dulled quickly. I finally put one of the oregon chains on that I purchased when I bought the saw and wow did it cut with ease. Do yourself a favor and buy the oregon blade and put it on first, it will save all the frustration with tightening the blade every ten cuts or so and having to put the derailed blade back on when you sling the blade. All in all unless something happens in the next few months it is the best 130 bucks I have spent in quite a while. I have just begun with the tree clearing that I have to do on the nine acres in the east tx piney woods so I will place an update on here in a few months or so as I will be putting this little saw to alot of use dropping smaller trees and clearing up old fallen down trees for the next few years. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Saw I own an electric chainsaw and found that it was totally inadequate for a fairly large yard cleanup that I started. I purchased this saw based on the price. I had some reservations about the purchase based on the so-so reviews, however I'm very happy with this saw. it started the first time I tried and has run great ever since. This saw wont do if you're planning to do if you're planning to do commercial logging, but for doing yard maintenance or cutting logs for your fireplace, this saw should do the trick for you! I think the poor reviews for the most part are based on people who don't read the instructions! If you follow the instructions, use the correct fuel mixture (50:1), keep the chain adjusted properly it should do a good job for you. February 8, 2015
