I got the homelite 18 inch chainsaw last fall and used it once. I had a small tree fall this winter. When I tried to use this product to cut it up it constantly stalls and was only able to make two cuts. This saw is completely useless. Save your money and agrevation and buy anything but this product. It's complete garbage.

This chainsaw should be sold as a 1 time use at a cheaper price i bought a 16" after cutting a couple of branches overheated and started smoking after that it wouldnt start so i upgraded to a 18" thinking it was going to be better and there wasnt anymore 16"
Finished the tree and drained the gas i also turned it on and let it die on its own. Tried using it months later started fine but once i tried to cut a branch the motor sounded like it was about to die 10 min after trying chainsaw overheaded and i couldnt use it anymore.
I ended up buying a used poulan pro so far so good...
Anybody interested in a homelite chainsaw for parts?

I've owned two Homelite gas chainsaws over the past 40 years and they have always run & cut well. Proper maintenance & fresh fuel are the key! My latest, a 42cc W/18" bar works great! I got a carb adjusting tool on the internet because from the factory the carbs are adjusted a little too lean to run well (Government Regs). Good saw, great price!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tom0416 decent saw for the money
I grew up on a farm where we did a lot of cutting with a sthil farm boss.. That was a great all around saw for most jobs around a farm. When I moved to the suburbs I decided that a chain saw was a necessary tool about 4 to 5 hours a season trimming shade trees etc.
I have had this version of chain saw (the same saw) about 20 years for the odd job. It has worked as expected: it's light, starts first time every time, the chain stays adjusted. Now it aint a sthil but it aint 300 to 400 dollars either. So yes if you occasionally use a chain saw around your yard its a good saw. It works great up to about 6 inch wood, beyond that you must slow down and work harder (tough on the body) to get it to finish a cut. Do not buy if is you are going to do any serious cutting more than 5 hours a season. get something more substantial ia better saw will save you money and your back in the long run.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jim Great little chanin saw
Bought this on sale after Christmas two years ago and has cut many cords of wood since. Its still cutting and all I do is make sure I blow out the filter and keep the correct mixture of gas and oil. Never guess, always measure, and this little guy starts real nice and cuts very well. I've cut trees larger than 30" in diameter. I am very pleased!!

I bought this chainsaw in January if 2014. I will be honest that I almost did not because of all the negative reviews. I have run this chainsaw hard and have cut red oak, cherry, elm, poplar, maple and white and red pine to name a few. Largest I cut so far was a 23" diameter red oak. (Yes, I should have used a larger saw.) I have had no problems with this saw. I have probably cut around 15 cord of wood from temperatures of 5-70 degrees F. I bought it by chance when I saw Home Depot running a sale for $99.00 which included the case, an extra chain and a quart of bar oil. I took advantage of my military discount and received an additional 10% off. I really think that people are more apt to write a negative review before they will write a positive one.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Kronn Don't buy. Used once and died
Used once. Couldn't get started second day. Took apart. Cleaned spark plug. Wouldn't start. Put away for a couple months tried it all over again. New gas, Can't get it to run more than a few seconds. Worthless and back breaking trying to get it started. Don't buy. Unfortunately I can't take it back now. Frustrating waste of money time and energy.
If you want mine, you can have it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Aroyals Good for small jobs around the property
Comes in a nice hard plastic case. We used it to clean up the cottonwood trees in the back of our property. The thickest branches we cut were about 4" and it did okay. This is definitely not a professional grade chainsaw, so don't get it expecting it to cut down your 2' wide 30 year old trees without a struggle. But we grab this when we need to cut more firewood from our burn pile and it starts right up (follow the starting instructions to avoid frustration). It comes with an extra chain which is great as well. So a good value for basic small jobs, just don't expect it to move mountains.
