My dad had a Homelite that worked well for many years so I thought to buy one myself rather than a more expensive Stihl. I've had nothing but issues with this chainsaw. I ran it a few times last summer and it worked okay. It always struggled to start and run well. This past winter comes and goes, and now I can barely get it to run. I've done all sorts of maintenance and tune-ups to it and cannot seem to get it to run. The auto-oiler for the chain just oils [or leaks] non stop. I'm very frustrated with this purchase and will be getting a Stihl soon.

The chain tensioner is more reliable than the previous toolless one but the motor is weaker. It was okay for few weeks now it bogs down on every cut. I use nothing but the canned engineered fuel and use new chains. Friend has a set of Stihl and I'll be selling all these and getting one. No comparison in power. If you are doing a few limbs then this may be okay at today's $99 sale but not much more. Only suitable for the lightest duty and then don't use E10 gas as the fuel lines will fall apart while in storage.

I used the saw for about 2 to 3 hours and the guard on the end of the bar vibrated off, the plastic T handle has now broken on one end and a bolt that holds the bar on has vibrated off and is gone. The saw works Great and was at a Great Price. This is the second Homelite 42 cc. saw i have owned , the other one was Nine years old .I would still recommend the saw to other people..This is not a Commercial grade saw but works great for the do it yourself person.at a good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good lightweight saw I own 3 husqvarnas ranging from. 136 to a 360 rancher. This saw is NOT meant to compete with those saws. This is a lightweight home user saw. Not meant for you to beat it too much but still gets the job done. I bought it for my dad and he lives on an acre. Mine has a 16" bar and that's the biggest you wanna go with an engine like this. I've cut down 14" branches and even 2 16" pines that were 20 feet tall with this saw. I always use an ethanol treatment in my fuel and I always keep the chain sharpened. For a saw at this price as long as you do those 2 things it won't fail you. Like I said it's plastic so don't throw it or do anything stupid with it and you'll be good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy a Carb Adjustment Tool!!! All 2 cycle small engines today are factory adjusted. Purchasing a Carb tool will save you many headaches. Also never use any gas w/ethanol in it. It's the main reason for 80% of all engine start and run troubles. All the problems I've read about on any 2cycle almost always points to the carb and/or the fuel or both!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quit running after 20 minutes Bought this chainsaw to replace my garbage Poulon 42CC chainsaw...they both must have copied the worst of each others chainsaw designs. This chainsaw stopped running after about 20 minutes of light use. Primer bulb stopped pumping fuel and the gas cap spewed fuel all over me. Seemed like a good deal at 149 bucks but it cost me more to return this and drive around to find a decent chainsaw than if I would have just bought a decent chainsaw to begin with. Dont be tempted by the price of this paper weight to think that you will be getting a deal...its not. At least I got a killer back workout trying to start this chainsaw over and over and over again.
