Customer Reviews

18 in. 42cc Gas Chainsaw is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 223.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quit running after 20 minutes Bought this chainsaw to replace my garbage Poulon 42CC chainsaw...they both must have copied the worst of each others chainsaw designs. This chainsaw stopped running after about 20 minutes of light use. Primer bulb stopped pumping fuel and the gas cap spewed fuel all over me. Seemed like a good deal at 149 bucks but it cost me more to return this and drive around to find a decent chainsaw than if I would have just bought a decent chainsaw to begin with. Dont be tempted by the price of this paper weight to think that you will be getting a deal...its not. At least I got a killer back workout trying to start this chainsaw over and over and over again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good lightweight saw I own 3 husqvarnas ranging from. 136 to a 360 rancher. This saw is NOT meant to compete with those saws. This is a lightweight home user saw. Not meant for you to beat it too much but still gets the job done. I bought it for my dad and he lives on an acre. Mine has a 16" bar and that's the biggest you wanna go with an engine like this. I've cut down 14" branches and even 2 16" pines that were 20 feet tall with this saw. I always use an ethanol treatment in my fuel and I always keep the chain sharpened. For a saw at this price as long as you do those 2 things it won't fail you. Like I said it's plastic so don't throw it or do anything stupid with it and you'll be good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No problems After reading some reviews I was hesitant to buy but it was on sale for $99 so why not. I have had zero issues starting and zero idling. READ the directions and u will be fine. If you ever had gas equipment before u should be fine. I give the motor some throttle for about a minute after starting and it idles fine left it idle on the ground for about a half a tank of premixed fuel now it starts and idles fine. Oh buy the way cuts wood like a hot knife through butter

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 50 cord cut I've cut 50 cord with this saw and counting.well worth the price. If your having problems change the chain to an Oregon chain. After that any problem is the operator.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk I wish Icould give it 0 stars. Do not buy this saw complete waste of money and time. Saw lasted approximately 2 hours just cutting soft maple. The bar is extremely flexible, chain will come off. Doesnt matter how you adjust for tightness so beware! My last homelite lasted 25 years. Save your money, spend an extra 150 on a stihl. I dont expect to get a refund, due to the fact that I apparently used this saw until failure (literally 2 hours from yhe time I left home depot) On a good note itstarted easy and ran good just not sure what I can do with a chainsaw with no bar

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Construction My Poulan Chain Saw of 8yrs finally quit..Bought this Homelite because it was the only Chainsaw available after the Hurricane, seemed like a good bargain for the price. After 15 minutes of "Light" use the chain came off even though the tension was checked and nuts tightened prior to use. The chains sprocket teeth were broken on several teeth. I replaced the chain and the same thing happened after "Light" use. The construction of the Housing is very flimsy causing the bar to flex causing the chain to fly off. I am returning this product...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thought I was buying a "good" chainsaw due to the Homelite name and the engine seized. Wasn't use... Thought I was buying a "good" chainsaw due to the Homelite name and the engine seized. Wasn't used that much, maybe two seasons. I'd say improper gas/oil mixture if I was a novice, but I've had and used chainsaws for about 25 years (still have my first chainsaw McCulloch). Yes, gas was fresh. Did a "Google" search on the topic and came up with multiple hits on this chainsaw seizing. Must be a manufacturing defect. Would not recommend or buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy a Carb Adjustment Tool!!! All 2 cycle small engines today are factory adjusted. Purchasing a Carb tool will save you many headaches. Also never use any gas w/ethanol in it. It's the main reason for 80% of all engine start and run troubles. All the problems I've read about on any 2cycle almost always points to the carb and/or the fuel or both!!!!
