18 in. Corded Electric Mower is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A joy to use Very pleased with this mower after 40+ years of using gas mowers. It is so much lighter and quieter, plus it's easier to clean. I was afraid it wouldn't handle heavy grass, but it's done well so far in our gnarly back yard. And if things ever do get too thick, the deck raises up higher than my gas mower did. Keeping the cord out of the way takes some practice, but it's not a problem. One thing to keep in mind is you need a heavier gauge cord than what you've probably got lying around the house, so expect to spend at least another fifty bucks for a new cord.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower!!! I've used and (mostly) abused this mower for 2 years. If you can get something under the deck it'll cut it :) I'm about to purchase 3rd replacement blade... Electricity goes into a rectifier and powers the DC motor. Several wires came lose from the crimp terminals under the hood, which is an easy quick fix. I expected mower to last a month or two while clearing heavy brush (using it like a bushhog...), at which point I'd planned to buy a "good" mower. When I have to replace it, it will defiantly be with a similar mower by Homelite. Neighbor had problem with switch on hers, but I taped mine on before 1st use. Newer models have bar that goes across handle, which would be much more convenient than just on one side like mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Easy Going Lawn Mower I really enjoy using this simple corded lawn mower! I'm not very good with gas-powered tools (hate having to keep a supply of gas on hand), and this mower alleviates that problem. It does a great job of cutting the grass evenly and neatly and is easy to push forwards and backwards. I also like that it turns off and on with the flip of a switch, rather than a torturesome pull cord. My only complaint with this mower is with the back safety flap. It's a rubber flap designed to keep grass and objects from flying out at your feet and ankles as you walk behind it, but it keeps getting pulled under the machine when you back up with it. I solved this problem by running a couple of lengths of garden wire through it (it has a hollow edge) and tying it up slightly to keep it off the ground. Works like a charm. As for noise level, this machine isn't as quiet as I was expecting, but it is a bit quieter than your average gas mower. I would highly recommend using brightly colored (yellow or orange) extension cords which will help to keep you from running over them! All in all this is a great mower at a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Homelite Mower Pros: Purchased this mower yesterday, and I am very pleased with it. I would say average sized yards: front and back. The grass was 4"+ long, and I did not want to burn the motor on the first day, so I cut the grass once on the highest height setting, then again on the middle setting. A great walk, really. The mower cut smoothly, and was very comfortable to push around. The power is pretty good for an electric, and as long as you don't power walk through the tall grass, you should be just fine. Black and Decker makes a green mower for a few dollars more, but with only 6.5 amps of power. Homelite has 12 amps of power! Cons: Minor ones, really! Extention cords are a bit of a pain, but much less hassle than buying gas again and again. You will learn a few dance moves, as you negotiate the cord as you mow! Back flap gaurd: As another reviewer pointed out, this needs to be tied up a bit, so it stays above the grass. It will become an issue, as soon as you try to back up with the mower, as you will just run over it, and watch it roll up into the mower. Tie it up, and no probems! A dowel through the center, with strings on each end, tied up to the frame, works well. Starter handle: I used a piece of velcro strap to keep the handle up, so I wouldn't have to keep gripping it closed. It made pushing and turning the mower easier, especially left handed turns! So, dollar for dollar, this is a great deal! Take the few minutes to tie up the back flap, and use a velcro strap, or piece of string, to hold up the starting handle, and you will defenitely like this mower!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value Used for just under a year so far on a small/medium size yard....works perfectly and cuts beautifully. The mulch feature is a terrific plus!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to handle I have found that this product meets my expectations. It will last in my opinion a long time. I have a townhouse and in no time I have my lawn cut. I like the starting feature of the hidden handle to start the mower and it is quite. I also like the mulcher which is good for the grass. I would highly recomend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from mowing green by going green mower arrived on time and assembled quickly. Does require a heavy gauage cord. Much quieter than gasmower. All four wheels can be set at once with one handle.Small enough to use as a trimmer mower. Easy to clean under deck. No pulling to start and no gasoline to buy! Very pleased with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good mower, bad technology Pros: Runs very smoothly, quiet. Cons: Does not cut fine grasses very well, like most mulching mowers it can't be used when the grass is wet or damp (just creates a gooey paste on the inside of the deck), does not cut well on a full pass unless you walk very slowly, this being a 12 amp motor you NEED a heavy gauge extension cord if you're mowing more than 30 feet from the nearest plug (12 or 16 gauge), extension cord is a pain to mow and haul around. While there is nothing specifically wrong with the mower, I'm returning it ASAP. I'm sure it works wonderfully for dense urban lawns (I'm thinking a 20 x 20 postage stamp here) but for anything larger, don't waste your time. Also purchased the Homelite cordless version which was heavy and hard to maneuver, so I returned it as well. If you're looking for an eco-friendly alternative or just don't want to bother with gas and oil, I would suggest a good reel mower.
