My mower stopped working. And I decided it would be cool to see what made it work. I took the cover off and found a very large collection of chopped up grass packed in and around the engine. Using my leaf blower I cleaned all the old grass out of the engine area. Put the cover back on and the unit was once again operational. I am glad I followed my inqusied mind and cleaned the grass out as I am not in Finacial condition to it jade another lawn mower and this was way my affordable than hauling it to a repair shop only to have them do the same thing I did but at a cost of probably $45.00 or more. I really like the lawn mower and will now make it a habit to clean the grass out of the engine are periodically.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JamesK Works Great and low price
1. Assembly is easy,10 minutes. Mower is heavy and sturdy.
2.The 12 amp motor gets the job done..much better then 8 amp motor. It runs very quietly ..Most electric lawn mowers in this price range are 8 amps so that is why I chose this one because it is stronger.Stay away from 8 amps even if you have a small lawn.
3. Very Reasonable price for 12 amp motor. $180
I tried it on some heavy grass which hadnt been cut for awhile and it went through it very easily. It has a mulching feature which i am using also.
Overall...cant think of any negatives unless you run over the electrical cord but thats your fault ,not the lawn mower

I've used and (mostly) abused this mower for 2 years. If you can get something under the deck it'll cut it :) I'm about to purchase 3rd replacement blade... Electricity goes into a rectifier and powers the DC motor. Several wires came lose from the crimp terminals under the hood, which is an easy quick fix. I expected mower to last a month or two while clearing heavy brush (using it like a bushhog...), at which point I'd planned to buy a "good" mower. When I have to replace it, it will defiantly be with a similar mower by Homelite. Neighbor had problem with switch on hers, but I taped mine on before 1st use. Newer models have bar that goes across handle, which would be much more convenient than just on one side like mine.

Very pleased with this mower after 40+ years of using gas mowers. It is so much lighter and quieter, plus it's easier to clean. I was afraid it wouldn't handle heavy grass, but it's done well so far in our gnarly back yard. And if things ever do get too thick, the deck raises up higher than my gas mower did. Keeping the cord out of the way takes some practice, but it's not a problem. One thing to keep in mind is you need a heavier gauge cord than what you've probably got lying around the house, so expect to spend at least another fifty bucks for a new cord.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cre7000 No more gas and pull starts....love this mower!
I bought this mower after my big 6.25 gas gave up. I will never go back to gas again. The only inconvenience is that we have a fairly large yard therefore I need to plug the cord in a couple of different spots but this is still better than the hassles of the gas mower. Also this mower is quiet and very powerful. No problems getting through taller grass and it has several height settings which are easy to change.
The mower was also very easy to set up. Highly recommend!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by TallySeniorGal Would work well if your sod/grass is not very deep.
My yard is a thick stand of centipead (about 3-4" deep) and the rear wheels are too small to handle this. If your grass is 4" tall, to get it cut lower, the housing does not clear the grass. If you have a very "thin" lawn it should work great. The design of the handle is a little light weight and if you have a lot of turning/movement of the handle, I would not expect it to last a long time. Also, I could not figure out the cord "secure" design and it kept coming unplugged. Not for me - returned it.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by nb2013 Good mower, bad technology
Pros: Runs very smoothly, quiet.
Cons: Does not cut fine grasses very well, like most mulching mowers it can't be used when the grass is wet or damp (just creates a gooey paste on the inside of the deck), does not cut well on a full pass unless you walk very slowly, this being a 12 amp motor you NEED a heavy gauge extension cord if you're mowing more than 30 feet from the nearest plug (12 or 16 gauge), extension cord is a pain to mow and haul around.
While there is nothing specifically wrong with the mower, I'm returning it ASAP. I'm sure it works wonderfully for dense urban lawns (I'm thinking a 20 x 20 postage stamp here) but for anything larger, don't waste your time.
Also purchased the Homelite cordless version which was heavy and hard to maneuver, so I returned it as well.
If you're looking for an eco-friendly alternative or just don't want to bother with gas and oil, I would suggest a good reel mower.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LED19380 great mower for small property
I just used my new mower for the first time and I am very happy with it. I have been using a reel mower for the last 25 years. While this has been fine, I am at a point when I want to get yard work done more efficiently and have more time to do fun things. This mower got the job done fast. It is simple to use with just minimal assembly right out of the box. The cord is a little ungainly, but I think with practice it will become less of an issue.
