It was easy to put together, but near impossible to start. I cannot start it myself. My husband has to come out and start it for me every time. Even he cannot get it started when using the instructions to start it in "start" mode and has to set it to "run" to get it started. It is almost as heavy as my mower, and the vibration is makes is really extreme and hard on my hands. It does a fair job of actually weed-eating, but it's not really worth the trouble. If you are debating this trimmer because it is so affordable, don't get this one. Pick a different trimmer.

Worked right out of the box on the first pull. Could see where someone might pull a little too hard on the rope. The string in it was adequate, but easy to replace. If you pull out more than about 5 or 6 inches of string it is a little hard to start. These little engines are real easy to break in. Let it idle a couple a minutes and then let it cool all the way down, repeat. Third time vary the speed slightly, but no where near wide open for about 5 minutes or so, repeat. Then take it easy the first couple of time you use it and you won't have to worry about the warranty. Was really surprised by the ease of use, for the price.

My 12 year old homelite grass trimmer finally died so I replaced it with this model. It runs fine but ease of use is horrible. The handle on the shaft constantly moves while using it no matter how tight the wing nut is tightened. The bolt is in the wrong spot and doesn't apply enough clamp load at the shaft. The spool holds a little bit of string. If you spool more than a couple feet of line you can't even assemble it. I took the spool off of my old string trimmer so I could finish my yard. I'm guessing Homelite allowed a chinese company to design this machine and that's why it doesn't function properly. It definitely wasn't tested after design.

First time having to replace the string and I cannot get the spool retainer off. Looked at replacing the entire String Head Assembly and it costs $30!!! Half the weed wacker!! I would NOT recommend this terrible product!

My last Homelite weed eater the exhaust manifold bolts broke, (think someone that used it abused it),but other than that never had a lick of trouble with it so decided to buy another. I like Homelite products, have a few others also.

I hate to admit it but I've purchased 2 of these, They were easy to start for the most part, Into the 2nd year, my original one apparently got so hot, the nylon cord melted inside the housing, I thought it must have been a rare occurrence, Naturally, I did not buy an extended warranty, nor could I locate the receipt. Due to the price I purchased a second one. Shame on me, The first time I needed to add string, the knob was difficult to remove, As a result, the plastic housing holding the bolt broke. Fortunately, I had the one from the original trimmer. This year marks the second season for the 2nd trimmer. It won't start, One of the fuel lines in the tank has actually dissolved. The fuel line on the original trimmer is the same way. This is a single season use and discard tool,

This is the second one of these I've purchased, and I have no regrets. I use it on 4 residential accounts and the previous one, despite having some issues, lasted me three years. This one far exceeds the previous. I've always had issues trying to rewind string onto a trimmer, but the directions and design make it a snap. Yes, it's a $70 string trimmer, but you get a solid piece of equipment for that price. I love this one and will likely be buying another in another three years.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by lilyo worst piece of yard equipment I've ever owned
Extremely difficult to get started. Stalls out easily when tilted. Stupid string loader, impossible to untangle. Nothing works the way it's supposed to. I should have returned it the first time I used it, when I had a hard time getting it started. I assumed I just wasn't used to it, and that I would get the hang of it. Wrong! It should take me 20 minutes to trim my yard; every time I've used this, it's taken at least an hour because I have to mess around with it so much. I've only used it three times, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to just throw it away. Useless, just useless. What a waste of money.
