I just did this over the weekend.
I used it for a while and when I was done, I left and about 30 mins later came back to use it more. It wouldn't start. I drained the gas & put in the correct mixture. After a few tries, it started and ran just fine.

Answer:
If it's a 2 cycle it's toast. If it's a 4 cycle and you didn't put oil in the crankcase, it's toast. Bottom line, the cylinder and rings are fried and it's toast.

Answer:
Change the spark plug, that should work. If not, you may have burned up the piston ring which means its not getting proper compression and the motor is now blown. You might be able to claim it under warranty.

Answer:
The engine burned up. Not mixing oil with the gas is the same as draining the il out of your car and running the engine. It will run for a short while, but then it is shot, and needs to be replaced.

HELLO, I ASSUME ITS A 2 STROKE ENGINE, WHICH REQUIRES GAS/OIL MIXTURE. IS THE PULL STRING LOCKED UP? IF SO THE ENGINE IS TRASHED. IF NOT TRY ADDING THE RIGHT RATIO MIXTURE GAS/OIL AND TRY IT MAY STILL WORK. BUT FROM MY EXPERIENCE THE ENGINE IS GONE.

Answer:
Make sure the fuel lines are tightly inserted into the tank and the tank has a decent amount of fuel in it. If this unit is older then the primer bulb (not the choke, the choke is the lever on the side) may be cracked or leaking.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 278 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good product, do not buy Started ok first time, but there is no idle speed, so it's hard to control the rotation speed. It's either zero or full blast which is incredibly loud/awkward. Line is awkward to advance the string. You have to stop the device, push down and pull string out at the same time. After all that, then it wouldn't crank. I had the thing 20 minutes out of the box. Going back to Home Depot. My cheap WalMart one I had for years kills this one. May 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WORST Product Ever Purchased Unit would not stay running. Line does not feed. Spool winding instructions are not correct. Save yourself the trouble of a return and purchase a different trimmer/ May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 2 Cycle trimmer This was bought for my wife, she loves it. It is easy to use and starts easy as well. May 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product Easy to use right out of the box. Didn't know how to change the line, but that was the user and not the product........lol May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Value and Performance Yes, you can spend more on a gas trimmer and I was tempted to do so, but I have had a similar Homelite gas trimmer that lasted 14 years without any problems. I have used the new gas trimmer and it is excellent for the cost which is why I have given it a five star rating. I use the trimmer on a typical home lot area of grass and anticipate this new trimmer will last another 14 years but whether I will, now that is another question! April 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by homelite curved shaft gas trimmer bought it new last July and it worked good to finish last season for 3 months. stored it through the winter and no go this year. tried new gas lines and primer bulb and no help. plan to throw it away. I've bought a new one of another brand and will never buy another homelite product. I was wrong in thinking that they produced a good product. I have had this type weedeater of other brands and they worked for at least 7 years. for 3 months this is ridiculous. April 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best purchase ever for a gal!!! As of 10 minutes ago my 3rd Homelite weed eater is going to be replaced with another updated newer version..... This will be my 4th one in like 25 to 30 years!!!! The one I have now the kill button did not work, it took a few tugs and the line stayed out... Just time for another $70 unit. The motors in these have never given out, the crank shaft either... both of which I have heard were problems for these little weed eaters..... Getting a new one this weekend and I'm just so thankful they keep making them!!! I tried another popular brand one time... couldn't get the thing started. These are so easy to pull and get them going.. A scary issue for a 58 year old woman!!! Just love them!!!! March 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great machine. No problem with starting, works well. Just like the last one I had for 16 years that I used at least 1 per week. I don't know why others had a problem but I have been extremely happy with mine. May 4, 2016
