I just did this over the weekend.
I used it for a while and when I was done, I left and about 30 mins later came back to use it more. It wouldn't start. I drained the gas & put in the correct mixture. After a few tries, it started and ran just fine.

If it's a 2 cycle it's toast. If it's a 4 cycle and you didn't put oil in the crankcase, it's toast. Bottom line, the cylinder and rings are fried and it's toast.

Answer:
Change the spark plug, that should work. If not, you may have burned up the piston ring which means its not getting proper compression and the motor is now blown. You might be able to claim it under warranty.

Answer:
The engine burned up. Not mixing oil with the gas is the same as draining the il out of your car and running the engine. It will run for a short while, but then it is shot, and needs to be replaced.

HELLO, I ASSUME ITS A 2 STROKE ENGINE, WHICH REQUIRES GAS/OIL MIXTURE. IS THE PULL STRING LOCKED UP? IF SO THE ENGINE IS TRASHED. IF NOT TRY ADDING THE RIGHT RATIO MIXTURE GAS/OIL AND TRY IT MAY STILL WORK. BUT FROM MY EXPERIENCE THE ENGINE IS GONE.

I could not find one,so I googled it to see what others have improvised. You can use the end of an electrical connect wire, has that plastic end on it to insulate the metal connect.Shop for the wire end and choose a size that is about right, stick it in there and turn.
I ended up using a super small thin screwdriver, stuck it in there and turned from the side,it did help,as a quick temporary fix.

Answer:
Make sure the fuel lines are tightly inserted into the tank and the tank has a decent amount of fuel in it. If this unit is older then the primer bulb (not the choke, the choke is the lever on the side) may be cracked or leaking.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't waste your money My 12 year old homelite grass trimmer finally died so I replaced it with this model. It runs fine but ease of use is horrible. The handle on the shaft constantly moves while using it no matter how tight the wing nut is tightened. The bolt is in the wrong spot and doesn't apply enough clamp load at the shaft. The spool holds a little bit of string. If you spool more than a couple feet of line you can't even assemble it. I took the spool off of my old string trimmer so I could finish my yard. I'm guessing Homelite allowed a chinese company to design this machine and that's why it doesn't function properly. It definitely wasn't tested after design. June 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst piece of yard equipment I've ever owned Extremely difficult to get started. Stalls out easily when tilted. Stupid string loader, impossible to untangle. Nothing works the way it's supposed to. I should have returned it the first time I used it, when I had a hard time getting it started. I assumed I just wasn't used to it, and that I would get the hang of it. Wrong! It should take me 20 minutes to trim my yard; every time I've used this, it's taken at least an hour because I have to mess around with it so much. I've only used it three times, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to just throw it away. Useless, just useless. What a waste of money. July 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So Cool I'm Buying Another One I needed a new weedeater to use at a yard I take care of.Ibought this one yesterday and picked up at the store.I leave it at the property. This Homelite trimmer is very nice.It has a safety feature that they don't really point out, which is the clutch. When the trimmer is running, and you let off of the gas,the head stops turning til you pull the throttle again.I noticed it today, which is the first time I have used the trimmer. I like it so much that I am here to buy another one to keep at my parents' house for when I mow there. The bump feed takes care of iteself, where I did not even have to tap the head, just throttle up and go. Sooo nice to be able to weedeat without the usual hassles of bump feed. June 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Trimmer is difficult to start. NOT MADE WELL. Trimmer is poorly made. Mechanically, they use cheap parts to keep their production costs low so they could sell at a good price. However, the consumer suffers because this trimmer doesn't start up right away. Be prepared to spend about 15 to 25 minutes trying to start it up. I had to keep fooling around with the choke for it to start. I filled it with the proper gas mixture of 50:1 gas and had all the controls set correctly. In my opinion, I think it is just an inferior product and I will never buy anything made by Homelite. July 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Trimmer It was easy to use and it did a great job. Loved the extra string that was ordered. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Meets my needs The old one died and with free shipping it was cheaper to buy the new one of the same model. Out in the mountains there are no service centers and getting into town is difficult. July 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Get what you pay for Good for the price, and when it works, it does the job. weird quirks in how to make it run that differ from the instructions. Instructions tell you to push lever to A and then B when its running. I actually had to set lever in between the 2 to start it. I suppose that fails in the "get what you pay for category". July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product Worked well right out of the box [ I did have to put in gas]. simple to assemble. July 6, 2016
