Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tthe HedgeSweep Feature is Great The B&D trimmers I have chopped more than cut, leaving lots of ragged ends. This cuts very cleanly on all the hedges/shrubs I use it on: lots of rose-of -sharons, 100 ft.+ of thick mature privet hedges along both street facing sides of my yard, etc. Haven't had a problem yet. Especially like the HedgeSweep---outstanding idea more trimmers should have. My only criticisms: No lock for the handle switch and the hand guard should be clear. After 3 seasons it's still going strong and the only maintenance it gets is spray oil on the blades before/after each use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good performer put it through some pretty tough trimming two weekends a row, power was good, made sharp clean cuts, love the debris deftector. any thing over 1/2 inch, needs to be done big deal ! it would be nice if the trigger an safety switch and had a better ergononic design, it would present a problem for someone with medium or small hands retainer clip on the debis deflector kept falling off, finally was lost, but its really not needed, friction keep it soildly on. I purchases it because I own several homelite products and I wasn't dissappointed for the money, the quality and performance is excellent

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Hedge trimmer is powerful enough to do my mature shrubs, and the "teeth" are far enough apart to where you can trim a good sized branch/stem, without having to let the trimmer "chew" it in two. My only complaint is the same as several people have already have to keep constant pressure on the trigger...there's no "lock" that keeps it in the "on" position...after a little while my hand starts cramping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great deal I am not a huge fan of electric yard tools, mainly because of lack of power in most cases. Although, I must say this hedge trimmer surprised me. It was either a mistake or deal of the day, but I was able to pick up this exact trimmer for just $10. I had my doubts on quality, but was very pleased. Does the job for "around the house work" and does not lag or get caught up. Even compared to my neighbors (more expensive one), this one does a better job. Lightweight, easy to use and control. "Sweep attachment" does not stay on very well and sounds a bit noisy/ clunky. Still, even for $30 it is a good buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Killer price... They had a special price on it.. I have two other hedge trimmers, didn't need another one, but the price was so good could not say no... Tried it the other day did really well. I am happy with my purchase ... Does a nice job on hedges..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the HedgeSweep Debris Remover The HedgeSweep Debris remover made trimming the tops of my hedges a breeze and saved me a lot of time. Before using this trimmer, I had to stop frequently to remove debris by hand from the hedge tops and it was difficult to tell if I was making a nice linear cut or if it was crooked. Not any more! I was able to easily determine where I was cutting and could make a nice linear cut in one try! Using the HedgeSweep, it also prevented trimmings from falling down in the center of the shrub/hedge which was a prior problem when not having the debris remover option. I only used the Hedgesweep to trim my shrubs/hedge tops as I needed to used a different brand that had a 3/4" cutting capacity for the sides. Still, I was still able to save a lot of time overall even though I was having to spend time alternating trimmers. I wish more companies would make something similar for their hedge trimmers. It was hard to tell if the Hedgesweep feature was plastic or metal since it was only available online. Note: it's a durable heavy-duty plastic which seems to hold up well and doesn't hardly add to the weight of the existing trimmer. The cons for this trimmer are: 1. Not available in HD stores (especially if you're trying to replace a broken trimmer and need one promptly). But, HD has a good return policy and shipping times.. 2. Base trimmer weight: this trimmer weighs approximately 10 pounds with or without the hedgesweep. My Black and Decker trimmer with 22 inch length and 4.0 amps (3/4" cutting capacity) weighs less than 6 pounds. 3. Only 1/2" max cutting capacity. Other competitors offer cutting capacities to 3/4" for trimmers of similar size and amperage. 4. Cord retention hook: could be a bit larger to accommodate a larger diameter extension cord. 5. No constant on function (always have to engage trigger for it to work) which leads to a bit of hand fatigue. But, it seems most competitors no longer offer this 'constant on' function either- probably related to some safety issue. That's ok - I've found that a zip tie or two around the handle and trigger takes care of this problem. All in all, I would highly recommend this trimmer. It does have room for improvement - as with any trimmer. However, the functionality of the HedgeSweep Debris remover certainly makes this trimmer stand out and is a great value. I'm very pleased overall and would buy another.
