Is this the part that advances the line?

Asked by: Joe
It is the "bump" part that needs to be pressed while running to advance the line. Most straight shaft trimmers are left hand thread. (Red retainer)Curved shafts, right hand thread. (Black retainer)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't purchase this unless you want to spend $10 over and over again. Buying rubber leg tips that fit over the red retainer is a much better solution at 4 for $2.50 than spending $10 repeatedly on a new spool retainer. The one I use works excellent and I think has made the product better than the original design. Just my 2 cents. Trying to help you save money and get the most out of your product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exact Fit Part The retaining nut is exact fit part. The only complaint is that any time you put a steel bolt inside a plastic form, it is going to eventually strip out.
