Answer:
no, when I started to install it, I noticed that the bar was bent, and also chain had chips in it. Thanks to Home Depot customer service I was able upgrade to a new homelite 14 inch saw. I really like this saw, and works great.

Reconditioned 14 in. 9 Amp Electric Chainsaw is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 118.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works and leaks! It works and leaks! I cleaned a backyard and I saved a lot of money

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Assembly time! I assembled the saw...then reattached the chain about 4 times before it actually stayed in place. I have used saws for years, and from what I can see, the bar should have been replaced on the one I purchased. It had some collapsed sections that took a while to pry out. The chain was not quality, but I'm not cutting trees, just shrubs. Once I got it assembled, it worked okay. Decent buy for the money for just light work, but if your not mechanical, and not familiar with chain saws, steer clear of this one. Should have come with a saw file to sharpen the chain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well The chainsaw worked well but uses a lot of oil. It also slings oil onto the operators pants and shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works very well but... This is my first chainsaw. The product arrived unassembled. The instruction book had no instructions about the proper assembly. You have to buy bar and chain oil separately. Once assembled, I tried to cut a small log but got only smoke. I moved to a smaller log, got more smoke. I adjusted the tension on the blade but eventually discovered that I had put the chain on backwards. No instructions for this, however, once the chain was properly placed, it cut through logs very efficiently. The tool is rather quiet and easy to handle. I figure many of these chainsaws are returned for reconditioning because as an entry-level saw people commonly put the blade on backwards and burn out the engine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure refurbished is the way to go Purchased on line and had shipped to the store. Arrived in a box that was saturated in oil. Oil was also coating parts of the chainsaw. The salesperson at the store where I picked up said that it was probabbly shipped to me in the same box that it was returned for refurbishing. Really? Home Depot couldn't afford a new clean box to ship it to a new customer? Didn't give me a lot of confidence in my purchase. The chainsaw wasn't assembled even though in 'assembly' instructions in the manual it just said 'unpack'. I had to assemble the blade/chain myself. The jury is still out on whether purchasing a refurbished unit was worth the small amount that I saved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Electric chainsaw Initially I was disappointed when I open the box. It looked like it's been used couple of times since the lettering at the saw blade area were worn off. Other refurbished products I bought looked almost brand new. I been using it to cut down small hedges and trees (up to 3-5 inch thick) and very pleased with the ease at which this cuts. Only complaint is that it uses the chain oil lot faster than my large gas chain saw and I'm having hard time keeping the saw tip guard screw from loosing itself.

I've used a chainsaw twice in the last 15 years, so I didn't want to spend a lot on a saw that would sit in my garage for the rest of my life. This fit the bill perfectly. I cut down two trees with trunks that were between 6 and 8 inches in diameter, and the saw handled the task effortlessly. It came unassembled with no manual since it was reconditioned, but I found the manual online. I had to reseat the chain once because I didn't tighten it appropriately the first time, but that was the only issue I had. Ordering online was easy. It took a couple days longer than expected, but it was convenient and inexpensive to have it shipped the store near me.

Have only used this homelite chainsaw once and am amazed at the job it does. I have 3 yucca 's in my front yard and they have become very bulky and overgrown. I tried using a manual saw, knives, etc to no avail and went to homedepots web site and purchased the reconditioned 14" 9 amp electric corded chainsaw. This chainsaw did an amazing job and I can hardly wait until i start using it on my backyard fruit trees. At the price I paid it would be worth the price if it only lasted a few months, but hopefully it will last much longer. The branches I used the saw on were about 12" thick.
