Mobile Home Application

Need to replace a leaking anti siphon hose bibb on a twenty two year old mobile home. Am wondering of this product will work with what appears to be a similar product with a longer extension tube. If the product will work is it possible to cut the current one off and push this on the current extension tube.
Asked by: Faster24
The product will work with cpvc, PEX, or copper. Some of the older mobile homes use a Polybutylene pipe which is gray in color. I have read an article from a plumbing expert and he says: "There are a couple of options when selecting what type of fitting to use for the transition from Polybutylene. The outside diameter of PB tubing is the same as for PEX, CPVC, and copper pipe so push fit fittings is one option you can use. The other is to use a specific transition fitting. For accessible areas push fit fittings, like Sharkbite or Gatorbite, are the easiest way to make a repair." If this is the case, this will work for your project.

I began using these quick connect type fittings last year. Hard to get away from the tried and true sweat type fittings but these things are unbelievable. My experience has been, however, that these fittings do not provide a rigid connection. Yes, the fittings will not separate or come apart (without tool) once connected but they can swivel a full 360 degrees. I would imagine the same would apply for this hose bib. My question, how do you then anchor this fitting to prevent it from spinning or rotating on the outside of the house? A sweat type fitting won't rotate and thus the hose bib is nicely anchored and rigid to the copper it is attached.

Hello, this has a notched flange on it. The valve can be fixed by drilling screws through the notches on the flange into the wall behind the valve.

Is this able to be used in climates that expose it to freezing temperatures for part of the year?

Asked by: frank
We would not recommend using this valve in that application as there is a potential for freezing. We would recommend installing a frost-free sillcock valve to prevent line freezing and ensure long term dependable use. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Installing this valve was a breeze. I had an old leaking faucet that was soldered to a copper pipe. I used the SharkBite coupling to join the copper pipe to cpvc. The faucet slipped on to the cpvc. Turned the water on and not one leak. So much easier than glue. Just make sure you follow the instructions and clean the ends of the pipe before inserting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the home do it yourself person. Quality product that works as advertised. There is no way to remove it from pipe without damaging the gripping mechanism.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great hose bibb with push-fit connection I like and would recommend this item. The push-fit connection eliminates the need for glue or solder. The instructions give a measurement to mark the pipe to ensure proper install depth. I don't recall a release mechanism in case of mistake. I used PEX (blue pipe) to connect to the hose bibb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works This is a non-sharkbite push-to-fit item. It is a little different from sharkbite's version but still easy. Works just fine.
