If you've got water flow in the right direction (the direction of the arrow) you have to overcome the spring pressure on the ball or flapper. What is that pressure?

Answer:
It has a very flexible valve that shuts with very little back pressure. In my opinion just a few pounds will open or close it.

Answer:
Hello Stu, this is what this valve is designed for. It will allow water through the valve one way, through a spring lever. Then it will not allow back flow as the spring only allow water out and not back in.
Thank you for asking.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Check Valve but Overkill for Application These worked great but, in hind site, were overkill for the application. My application is dual feed to a green house, drip feed, irrigation system: one side from the garden hose, the other from the lawn sprinkler system. I chose to use 3/4" PVC for the plumbing but 1/2" in would have worked as well. The drip irrigation system ( also from Home Depot ) required a pressure regulator and had an optional check valve available that would have worked just fine for the application and at a lower cost. Ok, this check valve works but I had two other, cheaper, options that would also have worked just fine. May 13, 2015
