I have read a number of reviews that state that the chute control lever is difficult to move. Is this still an issue with the current ones being manufactured?
Asked by: Peter
Mine got stuck after ONE use. After getting it loose again for a second use, it's stuck again. Going to try some silicone spray and see what it does but kind of ridiculous and should be lubricated from the factory. I could understand a few years down the road but brand new?? I bought a Honda so I wouldn't have issues -_-.

How Loud is the HS720??

I live in the Chicago suburbs and would need to snow blow early - would running this machine wake the next door neighbors??
Asked by: MP
No louder than your average lawnmower. And, if you need to clear snow to get to work or something, who cares what the neighbors think? Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, eh?

How much oil does it take on initial fill?

I have the AS model
Asked by: Faith
It comes with a pint of Honda oil and all of it goes in the engine. Tilting the blower forward helps get it in cleanly.

How do you handle over 12 inch snow, given its 12 inch height intake? In order to handle heavy snow in New England (often much more than 12 inch), do you tilt up the front-end, or just ride on top of the snow, and make two passes?
Asked by: jmt
Either one of those approaches will work. Both are better than scooping and lifting with a shovel.

Easily blew close to a foot of semi-wet snow twenty feet. Even took care of the drift left by the street plow. It actually pulls itself along nicely by the front auger paddle and clears right down to pavement. Driveway is four cars long and two cars wide. Very happy with the purchase. Started with second pull right out of the box. Chute controls work excellent. Small size makes it easy to maneuver and store in a one car garage.

Ordered the 20" Honda snow blower, it came well packaged and already set it up for the next snow., Ironically, no more snow after order of this blower but it is standby, just in case. Overall I'm very satisfied with the purchase, knowing that the Honda blower is a quality design and will write another review/rating after the first use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome performance I bought this snow blower in early winter as my 20 year old LawnBoy snowblower finnally died last year. Of course, we got almost no snow all winter........until yesterday! 19 inches in March! This Honda worked like a dream even with the snow deeper than the mouth of the snow blower. TONS OF POWER! Did an awesome job! Love it!

It can throw most snow, light or heavy, a good distance. That's about all I can say as the chute position control piece (a cheap plastic casing) broke completely in half when shifting positin.

All and all, it is a great machine and would buy it again. I have no issue with excess vibration or any difficulty in manipulating the chute. However, when the snow is wet and heavy, I find that the snow tends to build up a bit within the chute, restricting the ability of the machine to throw the snow very far. At times I also find that snow tends to build up on the wheels, inhibiting their ability to turn properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In 2017, I moved from the South to the North... In 2017, I moved from the South to the North and I purchased the 20 Inch Honda snow blower from Home Depot, and a Honda HSS928ATD 28 inch 270cc Two Stage Track Drive Snow Blower with Electric Start from a competitor. Both were purchased on-line, with delivery to my home and sales taxes were paid. In both cases, delivery was very simple. Set-up was a breeze. I figured that since I have a large zero turn mower, and a small trim mower; the same logic should apply to snow blowers. It does. The 928 has the power to go through anything, as long as it is not slush. Being a big unit, it takes a wide circumfrance and effort to turn it, but once it is going in a straight line it just throws the snow. Note, if you have a short driveway, do not buy the 928 -- it is optimized for long driveways that do not require much manuevering. The 20 inch model is light and highly manueverable. I can get into the tight spots with ease and it eliminates the need for a shovel. The 20 inch model is very easy to pull-start, and the directional shoot control is worth the extra money. Do not waste your money on a pull start. Perhaps the biggest unexpected benefit of the single stage is that it can really handle the slushy snow. The 928 clogs and stalls with slush, but the little one stage honda can shoot out the slush (just do not over do it). Can I only use this 20 inch unit -- yes, but if I am in a blizzard, then I will need to snow blow 3 to 4x in a single day. It will also take a lot of extra effort and extra time when compared to the 928. I figure that the 20 inch model can handle up to a 20 inch depth of the dry to semi-wet snow which should be about 70% of the snow that I get. this smaller unit can also handle the slush, But the 928 is great for my long driveway where manueverability is not an issue, and throwing distance is a big plus. I realize that many people do not want to buy 2 snow blowers. For my large and long driveway, and given that the north east new england area has blizzard, light, dry, wet, and slushy snow -- I need to be able to handle all of this. Note that the plow service quoted me $130 per plow session. During blizzards, they want to do 2 to 3 plow sessions on a single day. I figure that these units will pay for themselves in a few years.
