This is a good product. Home Depot needs to go over the equipment before it goes out. There have been many reviews killing the machine because of the roto lock. It is a setup issue that Home Depot should do before they let the machine out of the building.

Man,this mower is getting a bum rap around here.First time I used today. This Honda is a fantastic machine.Been cutting the same lawn for over 40 years and it has never looked better than today, with this machine.Everything about it worked flawlessly. Honda hit a home run here.

My first one lasted 19 years so going back to Honda was a no brainer. I've had lots of Honda cars so I'm pretty faithful. Only complaint was that the select drive cable needed adjustment and in fact they tell you how to do it. Wondering why that was something I was responsible for. Never had to do that with my Honda auto transmissions! I can imagine that some lesser mechanics would find this impossible and have to get it worked on. Honda, deliver it ready to go.You can do it.
The select drive is pretty easy to use. In fact this machine will go faster than it really should to do a good job. I'm glad I went for the 190 engine, So far nothing including wet grass has slowed it down at all. Forget starting it in 1 or 2 pulls. It's 4 on this one. My old one normally hit on 2. Surprised at the larger size. Sitting next to my retired model it dwarfed it. A good inch taller wheels and 2 inches engine height. So far so good.
For some reason when set on Mulch you get a lot of clippings in the exit chute on top of the sliding door. Not sure how it leaks through but one must work with it to clear it out after use.

Great Mower to buy. Wanted to buy a mower with blade stop for safety for any family member using it. Works great when engaged at a lower RPM setting. I don't know any car you engage a clutch at high speed. Use common sense and you have a great machine. Lawn looks best ever due to light design and dual blades. Plenty of HP for any needs. Ignore bad reviews given. Fires up right out of the box. Enjoy

Does everything it says. I like to bag and the blade stop feature is great. It's a pretty hefty machine, but the cut is great and the availability of partial mulching gives me fewer stops to empty the bag. So far after a month, I am very pleased.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by skiahh Not a mower for the Pacific Northwest...
I bought this mower because of Honda's reputation, but my old Briggs and Stratton powered Craftsman mower was far better than this mower until it wore out. I should have gone with another!
If you like to mow every other day, or your grass doesn't grow more than a half an inch or so in a week, this would be the perfect mower. Unless that 1/2" of grass contains any moisture.
If your lawn grows a normal amount in the springtime, this mower will cut it well enough, but it will deposit grass turds in its wake. And every now and then, the mulching system will blow itself out and leave wet mush in a pile wherever this happens. Even after a week with no rain, this happens in our lush PNW lawns. After you've mowed, what doesn't land in grass turds or mush on your lawn will need to be removed from under the mower... it's worse than picking up after the dogs! I've tried overlapping rows so I only cut about an 11" path, but it only helps a little... and doubles my mowing chore.
Even when things are all dry and only have about an inch of growth, the mower leaves a trail of clippings from its right side along the cutting path. If you overlap, it'll pick up that line and remulch them, but leave a fresh line as you go. And by overlapping, your 21" becomes something less, meaning more work.
If you live in the desert, it's probably a good mower. If you're manicuring a putting green, it'll work well.
If you have a real yard, get something else.

We bought this mower last year and have used it to cut 2 large yards every week during cutting season. We also used it to pick up and mulch our leaves from a large maple tree and the neighbors oak trees. This was the first year we did not have to rake leaves and bend over to pick them up. You could not ask for a better mower.x
