Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 75 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by You always get what you pay for. Coming from a Toro this is a treat. I was looking into another Toro but after reading the reviews I decided to try a Honda and I am glad I did. I have owned it for a year now with zero issues. Its expensive but you get what you pay for. September 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My new favorite mower!! This was only my first time using the mower but it worked very well! It made the steep hill in my back yard effortless with the rear drive system. It functioned much nicer than my friends Toro that was only a year or two old, cut better and you could tell the quality was a night and day difference. I loved that the grass pieces could be mulched or bagged, or a combination of both AND they were cut into much smaller pieces, making cleanup....or bagging much easier since you could fit more into the same size bag. The quality of the cut was also excellent, it looks a lot nicer than some of my neighbors using non Honda products as well. Let's also not forget that it moves quick so cutting time is down some also which is a big advantage, even on my 1/4 acre yard. I love this thing! June 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cadillac of mowers Works as advertised. Expensive but worth it! It is very well balanced, I have a small lawn with a lot of obstacles, turning is very easy to get around things. I debated between the Smart Drive and the Hydrostatic. I chose the smart drive and happy I did due to stopping and starting a lot, Smart drive lever is very easy to use, compared to lifting the bar every time on the hydrostatic. At 54 last mower I think I'll ever have. Great mower! Wish I could of afforded it 30 years ago! May 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best lawnmower ever owned, cuts mowing time in half fast mowing, handles tall / wet grass, superior mulching, worth the price, battery for electric starter recharges while mowing August 12, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 2nd one, and still no electric start! I'm on my second one. The first one had an issue that the starter would spin, but not engage to start the motor. Returned! Second one home now, and would not start out of the box. Pull strted like the manual said and ran the mower for 45 minutes and still would not start. Started again, ran for another 30 minutes then the starter tried to spin but went flat after about 5 seconds. I have called Honda customer support with no response after the first one. Called again, we'll see if anyone responds. I would say so far I'm not impressed. If I get starting issues resolved I may keep the mower. I ptretty much figure this day in age where companies don't really care what stuff they put out this is as good as it gets. Did get my lawn mowed with the first one, bagging. It operated great as long as you don'tmind pull start. Will probably exchange for the non electric start and save some money if I can't get this to work. If anything gets better, I will update this review. April 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best mower i have ever owned! I have owned a different major brand for the last 20+ years and was going to buy a new one until I was talked into this one. I am very glad I was. The cut is much better and it cuts the clippings into much finer particles. I have always been a "bagger" but with this mower the clippings are so small they do not clog up under the mower deck even when the grass is on the wet side. The electric start works flawlessly and it also recharges the battery while you mow ...very nice feature. The handle for the power drive does take a little getting use to it but when you are in a corner and cannot get behind it to push it works very well. Overall I would not hesitate to purchase another Honda but I hope that will be many years down the road. April 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good mower at a fair price Mower starts immediately and gives the desired cut. It is annoying to have the mower shut off each time you release the blade engagement to empty the bag. Silly to say this is a feature adopted, for fear of litigation. Otherwise a good product. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great mulching, needs a choke I bought this because my expensive Toro wouldn't mulch. This mower with the two blade system really does mulching great!. The blades of grass are very small and evenly spread, no bunches or globs of grass to look bad. I got the electric start and its a good thing or I would give a much lower rating. Honda really needs to have a choke or primer button. When the motor is cold, it starts after cranking about 5 seconds. When it is hot, like when I have to just empty the bag and go back to mowing, there is no way I could ever get it to start if I was pulling the rope. With the electric start, it fires up after about 10 seconds of cranking. I can't imagine trying to pull start it with a hot engine. The self propelled isn't real whoopie, but I was spoiled by the Toro personal pace. It propels itself, it just takes some practice getting accustom to the paddles. All in all, I think it is the best mower out there, it's just a little over priced. I would recommend the electric start and I think Honda needs to work on the self propel system and the carburetion. A primer button or a choke would solve a lot of starting issues. May 19, 2015
