I have used this mover 5 times on my .75 acre lot. The mower runs well and only gets bogged down when mulching very thick and damp grass. Has a good speed on the self propelled motor but can be cumbersome to push manually.
My only con is when working in tight spaces it does not move backwards well. The rear flap is very ridged and actually pops the back tires off the ground when it is going backwards. Then when pushing forward it brings them off the ground again and can not propel it self forward. I guess this is a safety feature but seems very annoying to me when using.

A fixed speed mower is the only mower that works well on steep slopes and the Honda HRS216 mower works extremely well. After replacing the low lift blade that came on it with a twin blade it also cuts extremely well. The engine starts first pull and doesn’t stall in high wet grass. This mower replaced a Toro self propelled fixed speed mower that lasted 40 years until the drive was so worn it would shear the drive shaft pins. Any mower made today isn’t likely to last 40 years as those days are gone. Most small engines on mowers today have an aluminum bore cylinder and doesn’t have an oil pump which my last the Toro did. That is one reason it lasted so long and it still runs to this day. This same mower also came with plastic wheels that never broke so plastic wheels are not a problem.

Bought this self-propelled mower from Home Depot back in 2006,thing still runs strong to this day.
Have changed the oil a couple times and the plug once, other than that, have done no other maintenance and still runs great.
Only bad part is it is difficult to pull backwards, having a little issue with the self-propel function(always on).
But I am in the market for a newer one anyway here soon.Overall, great buy, can't go wrong with this mower.

This mower starts easily and runs great. It mows beautifully and climbs inclines and dips with ease. It handles deep grass very well. Unfortunately, it has some cheap plastic parts which are unexpected on a mower of its price. The throttle is a flimsy plastic lever and the cables are attached with bundle straps. Certain non-stressed parts on the engine are plastic. I have had "cheapo" mowers in the past that seemed more substantial. While I can't fault how it performs, it does seem that Honda tried to see how little they could give you for the price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fuzzy This mower is a right fit for a residential homeowner lot.
As of this review, I have used the mower 6 times cutting thick S.E. Texas St. Augustine grass. The machine has one pull starting and plenty of power. I use both side discharge and mulch capabilities and satisfied with each mode. The rear wheel drive (RWD) provides good traction. Being light weight, I can manuver this machine easily in tight areas while the RWD is not engaged. My recommendation of this product is based on initial performance only. Ask again in 10 or 15 years!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dadd The best mower that I have ever used.
I am very impressed with this machine. I do not share any of the negative comments of other reviews. I find this machine well designed with the small yard in mind. It is very easy to operate for a person my age, 78. It has the same quality as my small Honda generator.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mulligan Very Quiet, Good quality
The engine is perfect, runs quiet, and it's a Honda so it will probably last forever. The quality of the mowing deck is excellent. The single forward speed is a buzzkill, it's slow and it needs more gears. The throttle/choke mechanism is made of cheap plastic and it constantly gets hung up in my shrubs, it will probably break. The quality of the cut is great, my lawn has never looked better.

Bought new in 1999 - yes: It hit it's 14th season. I replaced her today with a variable speed HONDA - because it was in stock, and $10 more.
minuses: 1. wheels - I've bought a few. 2. belts: that was the reason I was at Home Depot - belt kept coming off because it is worn. 3. "things" in rear wheels were a problem on day one - I finally fixed those myself. 4. Cables: I've been through one set.
pluses: 1. spark plug (original), 2. piicked up an extra carb because it was $30 and I was afraid it was going. 3. Deck: NO RUST after 13 seasons. 4. The overall shape of the mower could be described as "lightly used", even though it has been used well. 5. Started on second pull. 6. NO SMOKE - no white smoke at all.
I do this at the end of every season on all power equipment: 1. Run it completely out of gas. This applies to two-strokes as well.
At the beginning of the season: Change the oil after warming the engine up. Change the air filter
