Customer Questions & Answers

How many pulls to start the 25 cc? Alright for a "lightweight" (strength) person?

Asked by: wrenly
about 10 pulls but many more if restarting after a short run. Is there a most surefire method? Please answer soon. I have already had two cardio-vascular events and would like to avoid more!

Can this be used as an edger?

Asked by: Gary
Sure! The oil system on the engine allows you to put it in any position, so just turn the trimmer to use it as an edger. As this is a four-stroke motor, it makes a LOT of torque at lower speeds, so you'll find you don't have to rev the engine very much to get the job done, unlike most 2-stroke trimmers. Thanks for considering Honda. -Robert@Honda

25 cc Straight Shaft Gas Trimmer is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 66.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This is a great trimmer. It is the easiest one to start that I have owned. It only takes one pull and it is ready to go.

After adding oil and fuel it started right up. Easy to handle and the 4-cycle engine is smooth and reasonably quiet. It does a good job cutting down tall field grass. The supplied shoulder harness transfers the load to your shoulder leaving your arms with a lot more freedom of motion. It meets all my requirements to do the job I bought it for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Terrible head The trimmer head is trash, it does not feed any line whatsoever! The price paid is barely worth it, but I'll keep it just for the engine and get a different head. I love honda engines, but I'm sure there are better 4 cycle options for the others not so enthused.

Starts easily, runs quietly with little vibration and has more than enough power to trim my lawn. Appears to be a well-made unit. I experienced a problem with the trimmer line jamming on the spool requiring me to remove the spool and rewind the line. I made the mistake of winding the line in the direction of the arrow on the spool rather than the arrow illustrated in the directions. The result was that the trimmer head flew off a couple of times before I realized my mistake. No problems after winding the line correctly. Hope that jamming of the trimmer line will not be a recurring problem, but won't know until next summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worlds best trimmer! I have owned several other name brand trimmers over the last 20 years. By far, the Honda is the best trimmer I have ever owned. It starts on the first pull, has very low vibration, and lots of power. The line feeding system is excellent and very easy to load. I can't say enough good things about this wonderful piece of equipment. I only wish I would have bought this 20 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to start even after two years of use If you like pulling the starter chord a lot don't buy this one. It even feeds the string well but does use it. It's a little expensive but if you add up all the others you have owned it's not.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful. When it works, it's fine. Terrible carburation problems. Giving it away. Back to oil and gas for me

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Fine Weedcutter Indeed! In comparison to a 2-cycle this machine seems to be running @ half speed, due to its firing every other stroke. This lowers the sound frequency and presents a more friendly noise field to my ears. It spins fast enough at half throttle and has plenty of power for tall grass. Mature blackberry cane gives it a bit of a chew however. The only issue for me is that I am not a fan of "bump adjusters" for the string, which is probably why I had trouble with this. I trust this to be my misunderstanding, not the design. Very little vibration, clean burning engine, and the adjustable sling makes for a good balanced tool. Go for the four!
