Answer:
Typically 2 pulls to start. It is a little heavier than 2 stroke trimmers but is quieter and doesn't vibrate as much/ You should be fine with it.

HI Danny:
There's no official published noise/sound specifications for Honda trimmers. Unlike a mower with a covered blade, a trimmer's cutting line is exposed and everything from the turf/surface type to line size can determine sound levels. I can tell you all Honda trimmers use mini 4-stroke engines, and they are exceptionally quieter and easier on the ears than a typical 2-stroke engine. Our engineers call it "NVH" or "noise-vibration-harshness" and it's easy to hear a difference when you can compare. I'd suggest you visit a Honda dealer and test-drive any of the Honda trimmers and you'll hear the difference right away. Hope this helps. -Robert@Honda Read Less

Answer:
Sure! The oil system on the engine allows you to put it in any position, so just turn the trimmer to use it as an edger. As this is a four-stroke motor, it makes a LOT of torque at lower speeds, so you'll find you don't have to rev the engine very much to get the job done, unlike most 2-stroke trimmers. Thanks for considering Honda. -Robert@Honda

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 61 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to start even after two years of use If you like pulling the starter chord a lot don't buy this one. It even feeds the string well but does use it. It's a little expensive but if you add up all the others you have owned it's not. August 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worlds best trimmer! I have owned several other name brand trimmers over the last 20 years. By far, the Honda is the best trimmer I have ever owned. It starts on the first pull, has very low vibration, and lots of power. The line feeding system is excellent and very easy to load. I can't say enough good things about this wonderful piece of equipment. I only wish I would have bought this 20 years ago. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice trimmer, terrible string head The trimmer itself runs great. The string head design is terrible though. They ship the trimmer with line that wears out very fast, so I found myself constantly having to feed more line. After a few bumps, the line jammed up so there was a mandatory break to the trimming to disassemble the head and untangle the line. I was willing to write off the initial tangle to being shipped with line 'loose' in the head. I unwrapped all of the line and re-wrapped it. The instructions state you have to keep the line separated while winding it, but the design of the spool doesn't make that possible. On the bottom of the spool, there is a reinforcement rib that forces the line you're trying to wrap on the bottom to go to the middle. There is no divider to help keep the line separated. I did the best I could wrapping the line and ensuring they were separated, re-assembled the head, and resumed trimming. Within 15 minutes, the line was stuck again. I removed the factory head and replaced it with a much better aftermarket head that takes lengths of line slid into it. This would be a 5 star trimmer so far if they had only spent a little time designing the factory head. Save yourself some time and frustration and buy a replacement head for this trimmer when you order it. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Honda Gas Trimmer Best trimmer ever. $299 in special offer and is worth every penny. Gas only so no Oil mix, not so heavy and very strong. Highly recommended. You will not find any gas trimmer only and a great brand like honda for better price. July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice quality Heavier than my Echo 2 stroke but better overall quality. Doesn't rev as high but has better low-end torque. Nice not having to mix oil in the gas. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience A very good product, handy and very useful, would recommend to anyone. June 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Honda weed-wacker Great machine...easy start / not a 2cycle...a little heavy but manageable April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by THE BEST WEED EATER!!! I have used many 2-strokes, from homelight, ryobi, sears, craftsman, poulan, and 1 4-stroke ryobi and none compare to the honda and i will never go back to a 2-stroke. With a 1 pull to start after primed right out of the box why go back to a 50 pull 2-stroke? Half throttle takes out hackberry and cat claw saplings and buffalo heads and really any yard weed with ease. Its more than half the noise of a 2-stroke and decent weight and not smelling like exhaust is also nice, easy line feed, and being a 4-stroke no more mixing fuel is priceless!!! True it is expensive but its worth every penny i assure you!! Buy one and your review will look like mine! Tim, Three Rivers,Texas September 22, 2015
