I've enjoyed being the family's primary grass cutter for more than 50 years, so when my last $350 self-propelled mower gradually turned itself into a push mower after about three years, I decided I deserved to splurge on something that would last. How could my husband complain? Cutting the lawn - which was long, heavy and damp - with the new Honda took one single 40-minute session, compared to about 90 minutes with the old. I prefer mulching, and despite the wetness and heaviness of the grass, the clippings were finely spread and I experienced no clumping at all. Easy to start and maneuver; controls simple and elegant to use. A joy to operate!

Very little assembly. Was ready to go out of the box. Just had to add oil (provided in box) and gas, and with one pull the mower was ready to go. Worked great even on wet grass. I bought this based on recommendations from friends on the quality of Honda mowers. I expect this mower to last 10+ years as theirs did. The only con I can say is the price. It's a little on the expensive side. I wouldn't say it's necessarily over priced, because it's a quality product. I just would like to see the price come down a little more since it does not have the blade-stop feature.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bill Great mower, but first one lasted only 30 min
I'm torn on this whether this was a good purchase or not. I bought a brand new one, assembled, and started mowing. When i first started it, it stuttered a bit. after about 20 min mowing the self propel stopped working. I exchanged it, and the next one was night and day difference in cutting ability and power behind the self propel. Makes me leary they sold such a lemon in the first one i got

An excellent lawn mower. Had a Toro, and did not last, so went to the Honda. Very glad I made the switch. There is no comparison. The Honda is superior in every way. Easy to use with the variable touch speed control. If your lawn is flat, you may not use it all the time as the large wheels on the mower make it easy to push. Cutting and grass pick up by the bag is excellent. You will enjoy using this Honda model. I would have purchased the next model up with the electric start, but the store does not carry that model.

I spent several day online , looking at reviews and to make a long story short this mower was on top of its game. I am very Picky and I built High tech equipment, and turbines so I know about high end equipment and what it should look like this model I should have bought sooner ! I cut 2ft tall grass right out of the box ran like a beast. no lack of power, great on fuel low DB! starts ver well when hot also just FYI. If there is any problems its operator malfunction..lol

Excellent mower! The smart drive control is convenient, easy to use and the self propel system is smooth and powerful. Handlebar easily adjusts and can be folded down for storage in seconds. Starts first pull every time and engine is powerful enough to make full passes through thick 6-7 inch grass. I bag all my clippings and it left not one behind and the bigger bag and smaller mulched clippings cut how many times I needed to stop and dump them in half. For how big this mower is I found it surprisingly easy to maneuver. The mower does all the work you just need to make sure it stays straight, don't know why I waited so long.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by meyersmowing I USE IT COMMERCIALLY!!!!!!!!
I use the tar out of this mower! I use it commercially mowing 30 someodd yards a month @ 10-12 yards a day and NEVER a hickup! Mulches Superiour, and i had a commercial snapper with the heavy steel deck, and the honda is smoother, easier starting, and you CAN NOT SEE THE CLIPPINGS!!! Unlike the Snapper Pro. I had ppl complain about the grass trails, so i got a honda and never looked back. Will be buying another one this year so i can have two mowers going at once when the weedeating is done. Will not recomend the bagger for big yards bc it does get full fast! If you do use it, id recomend putting a 5lbs weight on the nose of the deck to offset the weight. I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!

Very easy assembly out of the box. Cuts extremely well - plenty of power. There is no way I could mow with the powered wheels on full blast - that would mean a fast jog behind mower.
Got useful tips from this site: Use fresh gas with StaBil or Lucas Safeguard Ethanol Treatment added, turn off gas feed line on mower and let engine run itself off when finished, change oil as directed in manual (BUT do not open oil filler cap until mower is on it's side - less spillage), and clean underside after each use.
Kind of pricey, but sort of like buying a Weber grill instead of a cheaper alternative.
