Answer:
No, it isn't. I looked closely, and the iron rest is spot-welded to the chassis.

I like all the height adjustments and the stability. But, I was disappointed that the table was plastic and I found out the hard way that the convient holder allows the iron to stay really hot. I was ironing a light shirt on the normal setting I always use and melted right through it. I have learned not to put the iron in the holder and all is OK now.

This one is very sturdy. Just a slight bit of confusion on how it works as there were no directions ( who would have thought I would need directions.....) to set it up. I like the iron holder. Allows me more room to press fabric and I like the shelf underneath to stack my ironing that is either completed or has to be done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Features Though not of the quality of the American made ironing boards of the past, this board offers good value and clever features that make ironing easier. The greatest down-side is the height-adjustment rack (ratchet) which disengages when the board is folded and then (on my example anyway) has to be manually engaged to permit height adjustment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High and Steady A good height and very steady for serious ironing. Large enough for large items

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good choice Easy to set up and stow away. Nicely made too. Good value for the price paid.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Narrow and unstable If you use to iron , it moves a lot. Not many people iron anymore, but for people like me who likes to be nice and fit , it has been not so useful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre construction It's an ironing board, how bad can it really be? My biggest complaint is that the mechanism for holding the legs up is pretty flaky. I have had to fuss around with it to make it work correctly again. Not a big deal, but usually you can just take your ironing board from the closet, open it up, use it, close it, and put it away. Not this one; you have to fiddle with the mechanism, then it will stay up. When you close it, the mechanism gets screwed up again, so you have to do it again next time. Other than that, it works fine.
