Unless you have 40 feet to stretch this too there is no way to lock it into place, the moment you hang your clothes the weight causes the line to fall...I would have done better to just but line and stretch it between two eye bolts, I wanted something retractable and this is but it does not lock any slack line...won't be buying again needless to say

The clothes lines does not lock so if you are not using the full 40 length of the line you will need poles to hold the line off the ground.

Easy to install and came with the hardware to do so. Installed Retractable Clothesline to garage, so I screwed a 4" x 2" x 3/4" cedar board with longer screws to properly anchor, then attached Clothesline to the board using the included screws. Attached included i-hook to fence post about 33 feet from garage.
I use it to dry cloth diapers, which are about 15 - 16" x 18", soaking wet, heavy towels basically and it does sag some, but still very happy with product. Only a handful of uses but still retracts great.

When I hung it, I noticed the line was much thinner than the old one I was replacing. Therefore there was too much sag when hanging things like wet sheets. Could not get it tight enough due to the thin cable stretching.

I used this line twice before it broke. The thin cable snapped with the weight of the cloths. Even before it snapped, the cable stretched so much that the cloths touched the ground. I love the idea of a retractible line, but this cable is totally insufficient.

There isn't much out there for a 30-40ft. retractable clothslines. This first one lasted 4 days, the second one lasted 3 days. The problem on the first was that as you wrap the line around the bottom of the unit to hold the cord, it crimps the cord. The line will retract only to where the cord gets crimped. On the second one, the knot on the cord came loose where it connects to the metal hook. When it retracted, the cord just kept winding up inside the unit releasing the spring action. It would not retract any more. Still trying to find a product that works.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by EarthCicco My wife likes it, so far.
I bought this as a birthday present for my wife. Yeah I know what kind of husband that makes me but she actually had been asking for a clothesline that we can hang our baby's cloth diapers on to dry.
She likes it so far. She likes that it's retractable and can lock in place so it doesn't sag too much. We've only had it for a few weeks and thus far, no problems.
