Customer Questions & Answers

need only 24 feet... will it stop and lock at 24 feet?

I am placing this between 2 trees. The 20' one is too short. I need 24'. So I am looking at the 40' one and want to know if it will "stop" or "set" or "lock into place" at 24'. Or will it just keep coming out till it is at the 40' length ?
Asked by: hummingbird
Notice on the bottom of the reel there is a tab. Once you have attached the end to the supplied hook, you need to wrap the line around the tab to secure the line.

How much weight can the line support?

Asked by: Laura
We use it for camping so I've never had more than a few damp towels and wet washclothes hanging on it at any one time.

I'm gonna use it for a my dog when he is out side. Would this work?

Asked by: tim
No, the line is not strong enough and it will stretch to far. The cord holder is not strong enough to hold a dog.

The first time I retracted the line, it wrapped up between the inside wheel and housing. It now will not allow me to pull the line out. Never got to use it and would never suggest anyone buy it!

One has worked well - the line itself stretches over time, but it is easily adjustable. After a few uses, it works really well. On the second item, however, the clothesline slipped off the guide and in between the axle and cover and is nearly impossible to fix without breaking the cover. The items came shipped without an over packaging, and so we recycled the cardboard boxes immediately. For that reason, we've not returned the broken one. We have another make of a retractable line which has never had this problem. So one out of two has worked reasonably well for a month.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Still trying to find a sturdy one This is the third retractable clothesline we've purchased. The first self-destructed as we pulled it out of the package. The second got used two times before the plastic hook that you attached to something when extended broke. This one, the plastic cover has popped open after using it just once, but it still functional so far… I just want to be a good citizen and dry my laundry outside. Sigh!

Use Locktite plastic bonding system to glue unit halves and avoid line pinch. For longer spans and better service life use separate metal cleat for line wrap rather than plastic nub on case. Use clothes pole to support longer line.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only used a few times and two sides of case... Only used a few times and two sides of case are already starting to separate. Line is like a rubber band. Sags as soon as items are hung. My Minky brand clothesline lasted 6 or 7 years before it wore out. Look the same on the outside, but grossly inferior on the inside.
