There is no removable tray. It evaporates automatically up to a certain point, but in high humidity areas, a drainage hose connected to the back of the unit is necessary.

Answer:
While the evaporation of the unit's condensation is automatic, it's not automatically controlled. Most times, you shouldn't need to empty the unit, but for the times that you do (i.e. when it's excessively humid), you should only have to empty a tray's worth.
If you're looking to unload a bucket of water, you should probably be looking for a dehumidifier, not an AC ;)

The unit comes with a built in tray for the water. When the tray is full, you will see a warning light prompting you to empty out. Much of the water is also evaporated.

Portable AC works best when obstructions removed and can be placed within 2 to 4 ft of sliding window. I have beds in way in bedrooms so I leave in living room where window access is clear. Is a little bulky to transport the window assembly easily. It is easier to leave in one room and this works well for my situation.

Maximum window size for included plastic expandable kit is 47". Included hose is fairly short so AC needs to be placed close to sliding window. Minimum size didn't measure but estimate less than 24" size.

I actually made my own window kit using the original kits vent hole as a template. My window was too narrow to use the vented plate - heavy cardboard and contact paper. works great - looks great and the hose stays in place.

The window opening should be a minimum of 19-7/8" by 4" to accommodate the rectangular window bracket of those dimensions.
With the added extensions, the bracket can reach as far as 46-7/8".
Hope this helps!

Yes, it does. The heat that is removed from the room air has to be ventilated outside or all you are going to be doing is paying a lot of money for a fan.

Yes, ventilated at least for the air conditioner mode with exhaust hose/window adapter vented out sliding window to outside. Dehumidifier and fan modes don't require exhaust vent outside. Fan mode suggests opening nearby window for source of cool air for fan.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 67 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not many other choices We searched all over and didn't come up with many alternatives. This product is very big. About 3' tall by 2.5' deep and it's heavy. If you plan on keeping it in a place where you can roll it around it will work. But if you plan on moving it say to upstairs/downstairs you better get in shape because it's about 85lbs. The output from this unit is pretty impressive. It cools down our 400sqft studio in about 10 minutes at a temperature of 90°>78°. I don't particularly like the fan options Hi, Med, Low with no intermediate setting and the fan unit is always on even when it's up to temperature which is extremely annoying. Our unit came without a wall fixture so we had to call customer service for one. It came within two days and is basically useless as it does not conform to the contour of our window. The air comes freely through gaps and draws hot air in. We used "pick&pluck" to custom make a fixture which works 100% better. We would have purchased window A/C but we just had 22 new windows put in and know how tough they are on them. Since our studio can reach temperatures of up to 95° it was basically the only choice we had other than walking around naked all day and I don't think our clients would appreciate that ;) The unit does cool down a room quickly but it's a bit over priced in our opinion and the fan options need to be updated. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Free standing portable AC Works great. Cools 22x22 room well. Using it with generator for power outage situations September 13, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Plus: Easy to set up and use. Negative: Very inefficient cooling. This unit creates a stronger negative pressure from its source intake and cooling intake vents than it can blow. I vapor (smoke) tested the air flow in my apartment and when this unit is on, the air gets sucked into the one room it is in. Which explains why the cold would not access any other rooms even with fans. The hose is short so it has to be placed next to a window anyways. So it cannot be positioned in an access way in my case. If you have the choice then get a window mounted air conditioner, they are more efficient, cheaper and all the hot components are outside of the house and cooled by outside air. This unit draws on a lot of air to cool the internals which adds to the vacuum created in the room it is placed. July 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Noise The cooling is reasonable and within the description of the product. Installation is easy. Aesthetics are good. The only complaint is the level of sound:" noise". It is higher than desirable. July 26, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Super quiet I love how quiet this model is even with the fan on high and the compressor kicked in. The one complaint I have is that it does not blow the cool air very far away from the unit. It only does a good job cooling the surrounding area and not very far from the unit. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Portable Air COnditioner It is noisy. Oherwise it is good for the price. The design is nice. It installs easy June 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by portable ac Was apprehensive if this would keep the main level of our four level home cool on a 95-100 degree day. Works great! 100 degree day kept cool at 71 which is what i had it set for. Timer settings works great and not too noisy. Easy to install on slider windows. We live in NW so humidity isnt an issue. Now the real question will it stand the test of time? June 8, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Highly Don't Reccomend This unit is super loud! It rattles noisily, but when you press down on the outside casing it stops. Seems like a problem they could have corrected during the design. May 22, 2016
