what is the minimum widow size and maximum to place the vent?

Asked by: bison
Maximum window size for included plastic expandable kit is 47". Included hose is fairly short so AC needs to be placed close to sliding window. Minimum size didn't measure but estimate less than 24" size.

Does unit have to be ventilated in outside wiindow

Asked by: ONS1
Yes, it does. The heat that is removed from the room air has to be ventilated outside or all you are going to be doing is paying a lot of money for a fan.

Ft. one story home, so it's about 25% larger than what this unit is supposed to be able to cool effectively. Based on how well it worked in cooling the whole place I think it will handle it well. Of course, testing in November is not the same as doing it in August. It's obviously a higher quality unit and the easy portability is a great feature. It takes just a minute to install or switch between You could move it into the bedroom, at night and not pay to cool the whole house.

This is a physically large machine, but less noisy than some others. Setup was easy and fast. We run this 24/7 and so far no problems.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So So 3, cool and dehumidifier. Louder than I expected on high settings but probably normal for high BTU air conditioners. The remote control is nice. The pan to drain the water is not included but that could be improvised easily. Doesn't cool our space as well as I had expected which was the biggest let down...however, incoming light, insolation and a few other factors may influence that aspect and may be an individual case with us. I suggest going to a store to look at your options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from portable ac Was apprehensive if this would keep the main level of our four level home cool on a 95-100 degree day. Works great! 100 degree day kept cool at 71 which is what i had it set for. Timer settings works great and not too noisy. Easy to install on slider windows. We live in NW so humidity isnt an issue. Now the real question will it stand the test of time?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fails to deliver ice-cold, powerful cooling The black and silver design is stunning. The electronic feather touch panel that illuminates and then fades to black is genius. The drainage hole halfway up rear of unit is convenient for attaching hose and draining water into a bucket for humid environment (filled 2 gallon Home Depot paint bucket in 4.5 hours - Los Angeles, CA). Fan on highest setting is WEAK (fails to really push out air into the room to circulate air). AC cooling is EXTREMELY WEAK. Moderate cool air blows from unit, not a bone chilling cold air. This unit fails to cool a small living room space in an apartment building with the doors closed off, hose properly installed, windows and blinds closed. I have had a 10,000 btu, a 12,000 btu and a 13,000 btu unit cool stronger than this. Unfortunately they all die after 1-2 years. Perhaps my unit was a dud. Maybe it lacked coolant? All I know is it was delivered to Home Depot new and I had to lug this thing back to Home Depot and they took it back after I told them it failed to cool my living room below 80-84F degrees when the temp outside was 90-95F. I cannot function normally unless the room is 68-72, like an office building or mall or store. This unit fails to cool. Period. I do not recommend. PS Have unit shipped to store. UPS and FEDEX handle units with kid gloves when delivering to stores, but when delivering to residences they come smashed up with broken engines. Just my experience over and over again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed Plus: Easy to set up and use. Negative: Very inefficient cooling. This unit creates a stronger negative pressure from its source intake and cooling intake vents than it can blow. I vapor (smoke) tested the air flow in my apartment and when this unit is on, the air gets sucked into the one room it is in. Which explains why the cold would not access any other rooms even with fans. The hose is short so it has to be placed next to a window anyways. So it cannot be positioned in an access way in my case. If you have the choice then get a window mounted air conditioner, they are more efficient, cheaper and all the hot components are outside of the house and cooled by outside air. This unit draws on a lot of air to cool the internals which adds to the vacuum created in the room it is placed.
