The Honeywell 300 CFM indoor evaporative air cooler offers an energy efficient cooling option when the air is hot with low humidity, such as desert areas like the southwestern United States (recommended humidity level is 60% or less for maximum efficiency). Honeywell evaporative air coolers do not require power hungry components like compressors. The low power consumption (only 102-Watts) translates into significant savings on energy bills compared to using air conditioners. Just unpack, add water/ice, place near open door or window, plug it in, and use. This unit is ideal for indoor use in open environments with adequate cross ventilation up to 175 sq. ft. 4 fan speeds and oscillating louvers evenly distribute cool air through the honeycomb cooling media while the carbon dust filter cleanses the air. For those living in more humid climates, consider portable air conditioning units or window air conditioners.

Questions & Answers

Why do you have to place near open door or window

Asked by: joay
If you place it near an open door or widow, you will filter and cool outdoor air. This will also allowed humid air to go out of the same window. If don't, you will fill the room with humid air and that will not work. Basically this products will add humidity to the room by using a powerful fan and a a media wet filter, As filtered humid air is at lower temperature than the surrounding air you will have a drop in temperature that can vary from a few degree to 12/14 degree. Best performance is always in hot dry areas.

Open Doors

Does this mean door to outside air? Or can the fan be in the doorway? We cannot open windows or doors here in Phoenix and we need something to help cool down a room. Thank you!
Asked by: clive12
I've just made sure it has plenty of space around it. I also have one window that I open at night when it gets cooler so it has fresh air cycling towards it. I think just leaving it in an open doorway would work just as well. If the room is too closed off and you turn on the cooler, it turns a bit sticky inside the room after a while. So either open to a hallway or a cracked window will help a lot.

Does it work in high humidity areas?

Asked by: Shay
Lots of customers buy air cooler for outdoor use in hot humid areas( patios or decks). the cool breeze coming from a running air cooler make you more comfortable. But remember as humidity goes up performance goes down, so I would only recommend it as an outdoor product.

How close does "near" an open door / window mean? Right in front of… a few feet from… etc?

We want to cool a concessions trailer 14x7 feet so the square footage would be perfect. I just want to know how close to a window this would need to be to be effective. And will it create moisture in the unit and if so, how much?
Asked by: rsjohnson
I take it to mean within 3 feet, however this is no more useful for cooling than a cheap oscillating fan. It is good for creating moisture in the air in a dry climate, but the cooling function is inferior to that of most fans.

300 CFM 4-Speed Indoor Portable Evaporative Cooler for 175 sq. ft. is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 33.

My bedroom gets blazing hot at night and AC just doesn't cool it enough to sleep. I bought this cooler so it will blow cool air over my bed and for that it does the job. I tried cooling the room itself but you only really feel the cool air if you're in front of it. It has the added plus that it filters the air so it's done wonders for my allergies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the money. Overall, the unit has been working pretty well. Like most other reviews, the unit won't cool like an A/C because it's not, however, as an air cooler, it does the job! It does cool the ambient temperature down at least 10 degrees and the water in the tank lasts a while...for us it's been about 7 hours on average.

They should be labelled HIGH, TOO HIGH and HURRICANE. Aside from that annoying issue, the Honeywell 300 CFM is a great product. I am wondering about installing a resister to achieve a true low setting, however.

The only window in my bedroom is above the bed headboard. Short of balancing it on a pillow, this was not possible. Wish they told me this prior to purchase.
