Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 34 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product and Tech Support I replaced the original thermostat (analog with mercury bulb) with no problems after I contacted Honeywell's tech support. The included instructions did not provide the info for the colored wires that were not needed to operate the new unit. The technician was very helpful and patient in walking me through the wiring instructions. It took less than ten minutes to install the unit after following her instructions. I highly recommend this unit. September 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Honeywell Thermostat The unit was easy to install. The display is a bit difficult to read due to weak backlighting. June 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Simple! installation of this unit was extremely simple, and accomplished by a not terribly talented DIY person. I strongly recommend taking a photograph of the wires in your old thermostat before removing them, just for reference. If you need help the Honeywell website has video tutorials for those with basic skills. Programming is simple, and accomplished in only a few minutes. My saintly, 80 year old mother has been able to change it without any effort. January 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and Simple This programmable thermostat was pretty much easy to set. There are a lot of settings M-F set for wake up, set for leave the house. then in the afternoon set again for when you get home, set again for when you go to bed. The weekends are separate from the week day. I hired an electrian for the install, after I tried to do it myself. Not a good idea, there are so many wires that are color coded correctly or in a standard here in Florida. March 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor mechanical design to access batteries The pins that press into the back-plate are so tight, the unit completely disassembled itself in my hands trying to get it apart to install it on the wall! I was glad this happened now, because otherwise I would've ripped it off of the drywall at a later date replacing batteries! There is waaay too much tension holding the pins inserted into their plug on the circuit board. Returning it - not impressed. Seems that two other reviews experienced the same problem as me. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Impossible to change batteries We didn't even get it installed before it fell apart. We had the wires connected and we were ready to turn it on but after putting the face on, nothing came up on the display. We attempted to take the face plate off to change the batteries and the whole thing fell apart. We put it back together but it still didn't work. It is impossible to take the plate apart without the whole circuit board coming off too. Bad design by Honeywell. October 26, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Missing One Key, But Important, Feature. Let me get right to the problem with this thermostat. If you have a heat pump with auxiliary heat, this thermostat has an offset from when the heat pump kicks on to when the heat strip kicks on of about one degree. Meaning, pretty much as soon as your heat pump kicks on, so does the emergency heating strip. Of course when that happens, the dial on your electric meter is breaking the speed barrier. This thermostat does not offer a way to adjust this offset. As a result, my electric bills were double before I put two and two together and realized the bills went up about the same time this thermostat was installed. There are other commercially available brands of thermostats that allow you to program up to a nine degree offset into the thermometer. Example. You have the thermostat set for 68 degrees. You set the offset for the emergency heat strip to come at 4 degrees. From 67 to 65 degrees, only the heat pump will run. If it drops down to 64, the heat strip will kick on to assist the heat pump in getting the temp back up to 68 degrees. This Honeywell will give you a warm house, but an empty wallet. March 26, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Air conditioning and heat come on at the same time Easy to install yes, easy to understand yes, functioning properly no. I installed it last night. Looked as if it were a normal thermostat. This morning my heat and air conditioning was running at the same time. It was set to heat and everything. This is unexecptable and now my furnace may be wrecked. Well getting it fixed is a good $300 down the sewer! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! March 29, 2015
