Bought this to replace an older version of this same model....so far after two weeks it is working great. The one it replaced lasted about 7 yrs. before it would not shut down once the set hi temp. was reached. As much as 8 degrees warmer before shutting off.

I installed this unit in rental property, but I still wanted some programmable features in the thermostat. This one works fine, not many bells but consider the price point. I have 3 other Honeywell stats with the wifi feature and absolutely love the control from these units. The price point is higher but worth it. Beware, if you buy the wifi model RTH6580wf
You will need to have a "C" wire to power the unit. You can often find an unused wire off your existing wire from your furnace. Follow the Honeywell instructions on how to accomplish this, you can do it.

After reading may reviews, this was the one for me, or so I thought! I am a fairly intelligent 55 yr old, DIY kind of person. When I got it home, opened it, the first instructions were to remove the wallplate from new thermostat. On the unit, it says to "pull here". I did, and the whole thing came apart! I was stuck with 3 portions, the face, the inside panel, and the back. The face came apart, with the glass/mirror portion came off, as well as the two push button, arrow parts. Trying to get everything back together took forever! Once I figured out what parts went where, I was finally able to mount the wallplate, connect the wires, and turned it on. I do not have any kind of display, it is completely blank.Tried new batteries, tried reinserting the little window/mirror, even went to reset the circuit breaker. Nothing is helping. I tried to call the help desk, and guess what...closed on the weekends. I can't set the unit, so it's not working properly, it has now been three hours, and I still don't have air conditioning flowing!

My old thermostat was blinking "change battery". I did but the status did not change and I couldn't get the temp to change from the default of 78 degrees. So I went straight to Home Depot to pick up a new one. I didn't have the money to buy a $100+ one so I tried the Honeywell RTH2300B which is a 5-2 day programmable thermostat. It was only $24.98 and works like a charm. Some reviews mention that it was hard to install, specifically around seperating the thermostat from the mounting plate.
I didn't have any problems. It was very simple. Just needed a screwdriver to take my old one off and attach the new mounting plate. Installed the batteries and snapped the thermostat in place. Easy to operate. I am cool again! The 5/2 split is fine for me. I don't need a separate program for every day of the week. If I have a day out of the ordinary, I just manually override the program. I especially like the back lit display. I didn't have this on my old one.
Works great. Good Value.
