Probably not a good idea in warmer climates. Set for winter conditions at 68 - 71 degrees means an expensive cooling season electric bill. Trying to cool an area to 68 degrees in 90 degree outside heat....

The Honeywell RTH6350 does not have the option of being set so it can automatically switch between heating and cooling. We would suggest looking at either the Honeywell RTH7500 or RTH7600 which do have that feature.

Answer:
A thermostat with a battery will continue to operate through a power failure. Unfortunately the only relevance it may have is registering the temperature if your heating or cooling system uses power too.

As you can see in the picture, there were five wires coming from our old thermostat that I needed to attach to the new one. There were directions, though, on how to attach a system with four wires.

Answer:
Hi Dummy homeowner, this unit replaces quite a few thermostats. Important part is to label the wires coming out of the wall. You will need to connect the wires not by color, but by where they came from on your old system. This product will work with 4 wires.
There are complete instructions/assembly on the web page next to the product description.

If you just want to set it to a higher temp on the cooling I am not sure because I am not using it for cooling as I said above. I know I can go really low on my heat or up high on my heat so I think you should be able to do the same with the cooling side as well. Read Less

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 223 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ths is a nice reasonable thermostat. This was a direct replacement so it was easy to replace the old one. the directions were not clear and could be improved but I called the number listed and the person on the line walked me through the set up in no time. The screen does back light but you have to be careful what button you touch as it is easy to accidentally switch from say cooling to heating. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Honeywell Thermostat Replaced older version of Honeywell Programmable Thermostat with this new 5-2 Day. It makes noise as if it has an electric relay inside that clicks when power is applied to activate the AC or Heat. Noise is not very low but it is new noise and nothing to be concerned over. I did call Technical Support they assure me it is normal. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Honeywell programmable thermostat. Purchased to replace a manual unit and so far its doing the job as intended. September 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Inaccurate temp reading Upgraded to a programmable thought this unit was a good price. Installed in the morning ( south Florida in August) and set for 78 until 6pm, well by noon was checking temp on unit thinking its "hot" in house. Thermostat said in was 78 so used over ride to 77. AC kicked on and went about my business and shortly was "hot" again! Unit said it was 77 in house! Put old "LUX" manual back in and it read 85 hot degrees. Googled review (should've done first!) went directly to lowest first and yup over and over inaccurate temp reading! Junk don't buy! Returned sticking with LUX Honeywell is junk! August 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install. Good unit. Nice unit with good features. Good instructions and looks great. September 8, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Inside Temp showing to be off by 8 degrees installed the unit this weekend and the inside temp show 8 degrees colder than three other temp gauges I have in the same area. I have allowed it to run for 48 hour to see if it changes but it is still off by -8 degrees. Inside house temperature is 78 degree and the thermostat reeds 70 degrees. Two much of a difference to keep but reading the other review I do not think I will stay with Honeywell.Returning for a refund. August 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Great I just purchased this one because I moved. I had installed one at my previous address and it worked so well that I made this one of the first purchases for my new home. It's easy to program, easy to install, and never let me down. Not to mention, helped me save $$ on my monthly bill. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good, solid choice This thermostat was very easy to install and program and works as advertised. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because there is an audible "click" heard when the thermostat turns the outdoor air conditioning compressor on. August 16, 2016
