Yes, as long as the total wattage does not exceed 3000. My baseboard units are 1000w on a 4 ft length, so I can run 3. I'm not sure how similar others are.

No, this thermostat controls line voltage (120 or 240v) directly. Made specifically for electric heat.

Answer:
Nope. Gas (and other) furnaces require a "low voltage" thermostat. This one is designed specifically to directly power electric resistance heating, baseboards for example. It requires 240V, and the load must be a pure resistance and pull 2 amperes minimum. It runs its internal circuitry off the main, and won't work at 24V, the norm for low-voltage systems.

Digital Non-Programmable Baseboard Heat Thermostat is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Swearing :^) I base my projects on the amount of swearing I do while doing the project. I bought four of these thermostats and installed them easily and quickly. The thermostats work exactly as they should. Set the temp and the room temp is maintained. I replaced the old-school loud clicking thermostats and encountered one surprise. One of my old t-stats had four wires into it for two heaters connected to two separate circuits. Took me ten minutes to learn that, but without a hitch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST THERMOSTAT FOR BASEBOARD HEAT! HAD 4 MECHANICAL THERMOSTATS IN 4 ROOMS. COULD NEVER GET THE HEAT WHERE WE WANTED. INSTALLED 4 OF THESE AND THEY WORK PERFECTLY!! THEY ARE ACCURATE, THEY MAINTAIN THE TEMPERATURE WITHIN 1 DEGREE OF THE SETTING. OUR ROOMS ARE NOW COMFORTABLE AND OUR ELECTRIC BILL HAS LOWERED A BIT AS THE ROOMS ARE NO LONGER VARYING BETWEEN 60 - 80 DEGREES WHICH THEY WERE BEFORE. GREAT PRODUCT.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good accurate thermostat for electric baseboards Have only had these thermostats for a month so I cannot comment on their durability. They do control the temperature very accurately. I especially like the fact that they can modulate the amount of heat in 4 or 5 steps. This makes the room temp much more stable. Should be noted that these units only switch one leg of the power so, on a 220V heater one leg is always hot unlike the old mechanical thermostats that these replaced. Also, there is no way to turn the heat totally off. They do allow a minimum set temperature of 40 degrees but it would be more convenient if there were an on-off switch as well. So far very pleased with these units.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Replacement This was a great replacement to my old thermostat. It looks cool and gives the impression of a whole new system. It is also easy to see exactly what the temperature is in a room and can be adjusted to an exact temperature and not just a guess. Also easy to install just connect to existing wires.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good The unit does not have an off switch so if you don't want the heater turn on you have to make sure to adjust the temperature appropriately. Overall so far it works well. Little larger than expected.
