I have an older model Honeywell non-programmable digital display thermostat, and the original battery lasted about 2 years. The thermostat keeps on working after the display goes out because the battery is only for that purpose, but you can no longer see what it is set for until you change the battery.

Yes you can, you would use the red and white wire connections on any replacement thermostat. In this case wire colors will not matter, it will work no matter what the wire colors are.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Instructions lacked detail for non electrical background The product did not say there was no light for Viewing the set temp, if installing in a dark room you may want to reconsider. If your room is well lite you should have no problems. Seems to be a solid built product. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy install We had an old thermostat that was on the fritz. We bought this one and it plugged right into the old and start the air right away. Good quality for cheap. September 27, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It's ok I bought this one figuring it was the middle priced one but it is very cheaply made. I thought Honeywell was a better brand. September 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Simple, Reasonable and effective Installation reasonably simple and easy. READ all the directions first paying particular attention to turning off all power to connected appliances, as some might miss it and you can blow out the fuse on your unit if not careful August 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst customer service ever Product works as advertised but Honeywell's customer service is the worst ever. My call was answered by someone who barely spoke English and was obviously in a foreign country. He demanded that I give him my full name, first and last and then wanted my phone number. When he demanded my email address I explained that I had a simple installation question and I didn't think he needed my email. He then hung up on me. August 30, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great, except it will break when you open it You will need a crowbar to pry it open to install it thereby breaking it and rendering it useless. Otherwise it's a fabulous thermostat...I guess. August 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to Install This was purchased for a vacation rental home. I wanted something simple to operate. The one thing that would make this product better is to have the display show both the current temperature and temperature you are setting. August 2, 2016
